Honoured to welcome Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, and the @kemenpar.ri team to Kri Island, Raja Ampat 🌊🇲🇨 As part of the @resharkorg global network, RARCC is proud to support the StAR Project in restoring Indo-Pacific leopard shark populations in Raja Ampat alongside fellow conservation partners and local communities. During the visit, our Founder, Max Ammer, also had the pleasure of showing the Minister around @papuadivingresorts , including the bungalows and resort area, while sharing the importance of sustainable tourism and marine conservation working hand in hand in Raja Ampat. Thank you for the visit and support towards the future of Indonesia’s marine conservation. #RARCC #PapuaDivingResorts #ReShark #StARProject #MarineConservation

Every day, Mardia and the team of shark nannies of the @resharkorg StAR Project check on the zebra sharks and watch their behavior. Conservation isn’t just science – it’s care. Because bringing them back means understanding them first. It’s what makes rewilding possible. Filmed for the new @laengengrad.doku series,„Good News from Planet Earth“ now streaming on ARTE & ARD. Our StAR Indonesia team was honoured to welcome the Republic of Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana (@kemenpar.ri ), and her team to our @rarcc nursery on Kri Island during her recent visit to Raja Ampat! 🇮🇩🦈 Hosted by @papuadivingresorts Founder and Director Max Ammer alongside the aquarist team, the visit included a tour of the nursery and discussions around our mission to rewild Indo-Pacific leopard sharks in Raja Ampat. The Minister also learned more about the project’s outreach and education efforts with local communities, an integral part of ensuring long-term conservation success in the region. 📸 @rarcc #ReShark #StARProject #LeopardShark #Conservation #Indonesia

In Raja Ampat, something remarkable is happening: Zebra sharks have disappeared from these waters, but thanks to the ReShark initiative, they’re being brought back. Follow along for the next chapter. Do sharks have personalities? 🦈👀 Turns out, they might not be so different from us… Some stick to their favorite resting spots, others are always on the move. Some prefer the deep, while others hang out in the shallows. Some keep to themselves, while others are way more social! After spending hundreds of hours observing and caring for our Indo-Pacific leopard sharks every single week, our StAR Indonesia aquarists — Mardia from our @rarcc nursery at Kri and Annisa from our @misoolfoundation nursery — certainly know these sharks better than anyone! They’ve also spent time on exchange at each other’s nurseries for capacity building — and yes, they definitely have their favorites (and opinions). If only the sharks knew how much their nannies talk about them behind their backs… 🙊 📸 @qinthanaa @rarcc @misoolfoundation @pambajeng #ReShark #StARProject #Indonesia #RajaAmpat #Shark

Our March releases continued at our @rarcc nursery, as it was a full circle moment for Siobhan Houlihan and Clint Karger from @seaworldaus who released Shishino — the last remaining pup hatched from a @seaworldaus egg! 🇦🇺 Next, Katrine Bosley released Lizzie (egg from @georgiaaquarium ), a pup she sponsored and named after her niece. Finally, the team released Rima, named in honour of Dr. Rima Jabado, Chair of @iucnshark and member of the ReShark Council. All six pups released in March 2026 by our StAR Indonesia team measured over 100 cm at release, with Leah the largest at 117 cm and 5.3 kg. Five of the six sharks (all except Lizzie) were fitted with microPAT satellite tags, scheduled to detach in late April when the team returns to Kri for the next round of releases. Good luck to Leah, Brunswick, Abam, Lizzie, Shishino, and Rima — and here’s hoping for some great satellite tag data from their journeys! 🛰🦈 📸 Videos by Mark Erdmann, @rarcc #ReShark #StARProject #LeopardShark #Conservation #Indonesia

What if the color in your food could also restore a forest? Meet Bixa orellana — a small fruit with a powerful story. Grown in Kebar, this natural dye has been used for generations to color skin, food, and culture. It’s part of something bigger. Through our agroforestry project, we’re planting Bixa not just for its vibrant color — but to: 🌱 Restore degraded land 🌳 Support biodiversity 🤝 Create sustainable income for local communities Would you choose natural over artificial if it helped protect forests? #RARCC #StewardsforNature #FoundationofPapuaDiving #SDGGoals #Kebar

Our StAR Indonesia team has been busy with more shark releases this month, starting with Leah, Brunswick, and Abam from our @rarcc nursery in Raja Ampat! 🦈 A key part of our Raja Ampat outreach program is actively engaging schools along the Dampier Strait and in Misool through nursery visits, education programs, food collection for the pups, and participation in shark releases. These students are the future guardians of Raja Ampat’s waters, and involving them today helps inspire the next generation to protect these incredible ecosystems. Three pups — Leah, Brunswick, and Abam (all eggs from @georgiaaquarium ) — were equipped with satellite tags and released with the help of visiting school groups from @childaidpapua , Yenwaupnor School (brought by @r4seacentre ), and SD YPK Tarbenakel Yenbekwan-Kurkapa (brought by @thriveconservation ), creating a lively and celebratory send-off as the sharks returned to the wild! 🎒👋 📸 Videos by Mark Erdmann, @rarcc #ReShark #StARProject #LeopardShark #ZebraShark #Ocean Conservation Shark Rewilding Indonesia

From @georgiaaquarium  🇺🇸 to the reefs of Raja Ampat 🇮🇩🪸 Dr. Lisa Hoopes — who’s part of our ReShark Council and Co-Chair of the StAR Project Research Working Group, and Senior Director of Research and Conservation at @georgiaaquarium — recently visited our @rarcc nursery in Raja Ampat. During her visit, Lisa shared her expertise in shark nutrition and diet with our StAR Indonesia aquarists, went “snailing” with the local school children, and took part in one very special moment: releasing “Hoopes”! Hoopes is a female juvenile Indo-Pacific leopard shark, born and raised at our @rarcc  nursery from an egg sent by @georgiaaquarium . Named in Lisa’s honor, she was satellite-tagged before release and is now beginning her journey in the wild. An incredible full-circle moment from aquarium to ocean! ✨ 📸 Videos by @georgiaaquarium @rarcc @qinthanaa #ReShark #StARProject #LeopardShark #ZebraShark #Ocean #Conservation #Shark #Rewilding #Indonesia

Culture and Color✨ Our students love performing their traditional Papuan dances — beautiful expressions of heritage carried with confidence and joy. These performances are more than just a show. They are stories passed down through generations, identity brought to life, and young hearts shining with pride. Seeing them dance shows how culture continues to grow through the next generation — strong, joyful, and full of spirit. #BatantaHopeIslandSchool #RARCC #FoundationofPapuaDiving #Yarweser #RajaAmpat
