After long flights in several small planes we arrived at the Daneborg research station in the middle of Northeast Greenland National Park.
During five weeks we used today’s highest resolution cameras to get new footage of the walrus underwater.

“How to Meet a Walrus” is the story of a photographer (@goranehlme ) whose dedication and persistence paid off, a researcher/filmmaker who has fallen in love with his subject but most of all it is a film about walrus. A species about which we know very little beyond rumours fed by ignorance and it’s fearsome appearance.

A lot has changed in 20 years.
Glacier melt has changed the salinity of the arctic waters. There is less ice and temperatures have risen.
In our documentary “How to Meet a Walrus” we hope to get answers to our question about what changes have occurred and to find out how the walrus has experienced them.
