✅ Full ACL heal - No Surgery! 😭 13 weeks ago I fully tore my ACL whilst training at my gym. Dr Tom Cross invited me to participate as a patient in his new study and told me he could heal my ACL without surgery. I was skeptical, but this man is the absolute goat 🐐. Today, he revealed my ACL had fully reattached and was on the path to fully healing in 6-9 months. I am forever grateful to him and his team at @stadiumsportsmedicine I spent 8 weeks in a brace locked at 90 degrees whilst gradually increasing the degrees of flexion after 4 weeks. See slide 2 for full rupture vs full heal on MRI. Patient number 678 signing off. A post was easier than messaging everyone who wanted to know the outcome. 😂 Thank you to my beautiful wife who held down the fort, family and my life whilst I was unable to walk for ages @tanikabardi ♥️ As always thanks to my team for once again getting me back on the mats. They are always the best. @kevlayphysio @sportslabaus @et.athletic_performance @christopher.a.collis

24 hour weight cuts in BJJ - how I safely cut 10kg in 10 weeks. 🍲 There’s pretty specific circumstances on whether or not you should cut weight. Most of the time you shouldn’t. But if you do, you should always consult a professional. I work with @alexlamondnutrition who is an accredited dietitian. And I’m just a coach. @et.athletic_performance is also very experienced over at @grapplestrikemove This isn’t medical advice - just my educated opinion. Just like that we have a SON 🩵 Maverick Benaiah Bardi, born in the water on Thursday afternoon after a healing birth experience. We are soaking up every second of this new chapter as a family of 4 — Zahli is already the best big sister 🥹 Blessed is an understatement ❤️‍🔥

The takedown was the highest point securing action at ADCC 2024. More so than back takes or even sweeps. (Reference at the bottom from BJJ Heroes) No other takedown was more successfully finished than the single leg. I always advise my students even those that are guard players to put time into wrestling. You never know if this is going to be a determining factor in a match, especially if overtime kicks in. Whilst I do believe lower body takedowns present more risk in BJJ (like getting front headlocked), they still seem to be important according to data. Lower risk single legs that seem to have great success look to be single leg takedowns where the secondary leg is controlled with a “trip” or a switch to double leg. Posture is high (excluding the double leg) and we are less at threat of getting countered with a front headlock strangle. I added some video examples of these in BJJ and even in Wrestling matches. Be careful not to sit on your partners knees trying this one 😂. Let me know what you think or if there are any better options? Source: 👇 /editorial/adcc-2024-after-math-data-compilation-and-analysis

The Crossover Step To me this is one of the most underrated moves when approaching a supine opponent. It is a staple when I teach outside passing now. So often your opponent will react by extending the bottom leg to form connection when you control the top ankle. It then becomes so easy to step over towards the pocket of the hip. I truly believe this has to be one of the best subtle moves to use when you want to fatigue your partner combined with the knee parry. You can see an example of both from the clip with @chrismwojcik Please let me know your thoughts as I love discussing this stuff! 😊

I’ve been doing a lot of deep study on camping outside the legs for NOGI. I’ve always believed it is more effective to control the ankle or the knee on the top leg (high leg) when your opponent is framing on you in a J-Point; and when frames drop with fatigue, then we move up to controlling the hip. I think high level Gi athletes have understood this with the pant grip for a long time and this will eventually translate to NoGi as a more effective way to get the opponent to spend their energy tickets, force them to turtle or chain other passing. In the videos you can see @thalisonvsoares and @jansengomesbjj using this years ago at a high level. Last clip I put to highlight how when I control @david_stoil hip in outside passing he is completely unfazed. But I can generate more chaos/reaction getting a hold of the top foot. Let me know thoughts as I’ve been looking way too much into this 😂
