As part of the Federation academy tour celebrating 25 years of jiu jitsu in NSW, we spent time at
@academyfoureleven in Rosebery.
When you walk into the room, the first thing you notice is the space. Clean, modern, and well put together. They’ve even got an in-house coffee bar set up… looks like a great space to start the morning.
411 has become well known in the no-gi scene, with competitors like
@allsirena and
@nickbiltonjj competing on the superfight stage. But it’s not just no-gi.
We sat down with co-owner
@christopher.a.collis to talk about the nuances between gi and no-gi, and caught up with Sirena, who spoke about her journey through the sport and how fortunate we are in Australia to be part of a country that truly values sport. We also touched on the foundations laid over the past 25 years, and how that has helped jiu jitsu in this country reach the level it is today.
This was also the first academy on this tour where we saw a female leading the technique in class, a great reflection of how far jiu jitsu has come in NSW.
You can see that next generation coming through as well. Competitors like
@kai.grossman preparing for Worlds next May, with plans to be back competing at the Winter Cup, all the way down to the youngest like Marcello, all developing in the same room.
More from this visit soon.
