Join us Saturday, November 1 for the opening of 𝘈𝘭𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴, 𝘈𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘴 & 𝘐𝘯𝘥í𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘴, a MexiCali Biennial artist in residency exhibition by 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗮. The installation - influenced by Estrada's fictional persona 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗼 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗼 - will evolve throughout the run of the exhibition, transforming the space into a cosmic destination and reflecting the symbolic journey taken. Writer/curator Eduardo Lozano states of the artist's work, [Estrada] "explores the power of language and how Spanish and English combine to create a cohesive identity between worlds - exploring the simultaneous separation and connection between the alien and the indigenous."

Rancho Shampoo aka Guillermo Estrada aka Memo Navajas is a multidisciplinary artist, whose practice includes installation, performance, music, and video. Taking inspiration from Gloria Anzaldúa’s idea of living in Nepantla (the in-between space), the artist produces an immersive experience where physical, mental, and spiritual migrations occur and expand from the multidimensional axis of “North, South, East, West, upwards, downwards and infinity.” The artist lives and works between Tecate and San Diego.
