This mix is a journey through the Afro-Atlantic cosmos. Following the echoes of instruments, rhythms, and cosmovisions that connect the diaspora to the African continent, we encounter the many transformations they underwent. Crossing Brazil and the Caribbean, to reach the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, we find the ligaments that still bind these geographies together.
Omí, (
@ramogabriel ) also known as Omar Gabriel, is a transdisciplinary musician and artist of Jamaican, Italian and Brazilian background. Their work confronts the complexity of the black diasporic condition, from the standpoint of a mixed heritage and queer perspective, diving into the decolonial struggle, and Afro-Atlantic identity, unlearning the Western academic to reflect on the re-appropriation of identity through ancestral technologies and spirituality.
Thank your for tuning in, big love.
