Ali has spent much of her public life being read through other people’s categories: too fashionable for sport, too athletic for fashion, too visible to be easily understood on her own terms. Officially selected for 13 film festivals worldwide, including our first BAFTA-qualifying festival for **How To Hide It** our debut short film. People who know us, know we don’t do things halfway. Eighteen months ago after executive producing In The Shadows, a feature biopic shot across London and Kenya, which will be out in cinemas later this year, my husband and creative partner Rich looked at me and said “Let’s drop everything and write our own feature film.” I genuinely thought he was crazy. Turns out, a healthy dose of delusion and a complete disregard for permission is the best strategy. We wrote and finished our short whilst simultaneously finishing writing Not Like Us our first feature comedy script. Let’s hope we can get that one to the big screen next.
