Drawing from soulful melody and industrial grit in equal measure, UVB has spent over a decade forging a sound he calls “industrial funk,” a raw, groove-heavy vision of techno entirely his own. Marseille-born and Berlin-based, he is a regular on the Berghain lineup, where the iconic club stands as his most played venue worldwide. Founder of the Body Theory and SHIV labels, he has released multiple LPs and EPs since his 2014 debut on Mord Records, earning support from Surgeon, Marcel Dettmann, and Tommy Four Seven. From Berghain to Tresor, Concrete to Awakenings, UVB brings that vision to dancefloors around the world. For my final installment with Nocturne, I wanted to capture that feeling of transcendence you find on the dance floor. Those moments at 5 a.m. when thought disappears and all that’s left is movement, sound, and energy shared with one another. Intertwining dragon like forms represent bodies becoming one collective force, connected through rhythm, instinct, and complete surrender and power to the dance floor. For this third installment for nocturne I wanted to capture something sensual and feral, to have this piece describe the feeling of tension and suspension, accumulation building before climax. Electricity and energy running through your body as you move throughout the dance floor, your mind fractures through your own physicality and your body becomes an output for immense energy ready to release what lies in the belly of the beast.
