When the NEOWISE comet made an appearance in the Summer of 2020, I set out to capture it in the best way possible. I was in good physical shape at the time so I had options! Using @planitphoto for Android, I looked for possible vantage points where the comet would be visible. It happened to line up *perfectly* from the summit of South Sister. On July 16 I starter at the Tam McArthur Trailhead and hiked clockwise around Broken Top Look trail with a South Sister summit to boot. The weather and visibility couldn't have been more perfect that evening! This timelapse is composed of 360 photos. You can view as far as Pahto (Mt Adams). Headlamps of mountaineers on Wy'East (Mount Hood) can be seen making their way up to the top. This is a once in a lifetime capture. A unique perspective that cannot be replicated. 📍 Location: South Sister ⛰ Mountains visible: Middle Sister, North Sister, Three-Fingered Jack, Mount Jefferson, Mount Hood, Mount St Helens, Mt Adams 👉 Like and Follow 👈 📸 Photo Credit: Ralph Daub Photography ________________________________________ #SouthSister #BendOregon #SistersOregon #NaturePhotography #LandscapePhotography #NationalGeographic #AdventurePhotography #InspiringViews #TravelGram #NEOWISE #NEOWISEComet #WildernessExploration #NatureLoversUnite #EarthFocus #Astrophotography #EarthOfficial #BeautifulDestinations #StayAndWander #Timelapse #SouthSisterSummit #DiscoverEarth ________________________________________ @pnwoutsiders @oregonexplored @stateofwatourism @oregon @naturallandscapeawards @pnwpeakbaggers @bestoforegon @bestphoto.landscape @the.pnw @omsystem.cameras @gorgeartist @1859oregon @oregon.nw @thegreat_pnw @p.n.w . @mthoodterritory @olympus_breakfree @destination.pnw

📸 I cringe when I think back to my first attempts at framing my own photographs.I used cheap supermarket frames and lacked the knowledge to do my art justice. 📚 Over the past six years, I dedicated myself to learning more about it, and came to realize it's an art in and of itself! 🧑‍🎨 Through workshops, reading, and plenty of trial and error, I developed my own standard framing style that complements my photography: classic, timeless, and crafted with great attention to detail. I use quality acid-free materials to ensure the framed prints last for generations. 🎨 Being in control of the entire creative process from the time I capture the images, to post processing, printing, and framing, has been a rewarding experience. Thank you for your support and following along on my journey! 🙏  🤔 Curious to know more about framing or my artwork? Don't hesitate to ask! Whether you're a fellow photographer or an art enthusiast, I'm happy to share my knowledge and experience with you. #pictureframing #wallgallery #wallart #photographyframes #framedphotos #mattingandframing #mattingpictures #framingphotography #gallerywall #gallery @gorgeartist @explorewhitesalmon @whitesalmonartscouncil @hoodriveroregon @hoodriverdowntown @whitesalmonwa

Surprise fish party 🐟💦 We went to Picãozinho during João Pessoa stop — the weather cleared up and suddenly @laura.e.russell and I were surrounded! Just a fun little moment from the trip. #joaopessoa #braziltrip #picaozinho

Out of all the paths in life, mine led me to you. And there, in the middle of it all, I asked you to walk with me forever… and you said YES. 💍❤️ Our forever starts now. Entre tantos caminhos, a vida me levou até você. E ali, no meio de tudo, te pedi para caminhar comigo pra sempre… E você disse SIM. 💍❤️ Nosso para sempre começa agora. #lencoismaranhenses #santoamarodomaranhao #maranhao #barreirinhas #dronelencoismaranhenses #dronenoslencoismaranhenses #turismo #prewedding

This is not Photoshopped! ⚠️ This was the full moon yesterday, with my partner @laura.e.russell riding her mountain bike down Coyote Wall 💛 I thought of making this photo nearly a year ago. 6 months ago I had the full plan using @planitphoto . I knew: 📸 Where I would be with my camera. 🔬 The exact camera lens I needed 🚵🏼‍♀️ Where my partner would be with her bike ⏳The exact time the moon would be rising above the cliffside (6:36pm) So then, we just waited for the day. 3 days ago, the weather forecast called for heavy clouds and rain - so I thought the plan was busted. In a last minute turn of events, the forecast changed to clear skies! I drove her to the top of Coyote Wall and then drove to my camera setup spot, 0.75miles away from her. We stayed in touch over speakerphone. This is just one of over 100 photos I caught in the 2 minutes time we had, before the moon went over her head. This was photographed with an: Olympus OM-D E-M1 mk3 Olympus 300mm f4 + 1.4TC = 420mm (840mm full frame equivalent) Settings: f8, SS1/50, ISO200 Enjoy! #explorewhitesalmon #mountainbiking #mountainbikingtrails #hoodriver #getolympus #omdigitalsolutions

I caught C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) in action over Smith Rock, beautifully aligned with Mount Washington! ☄️✨ I've been planning this shot for a few weeks now and I'm so excited I caught it despite the smoke looming on the horizon. In the excitement, driving over to Smith Rock, I almost had a massive blunder. I realized a few minutes into the drive I'd left my tripods at home!! These photos were taken with two different cameras, both Olympus, EM-1 mk2 and mk3. One camera had a 40-150mm f2.8 that I used to capture the wider view. Another camera had a massive 300mm f4 zoom (equivalent to 600mm full frame) on a Move-Shoot-Move Nomad tracker so I could capture a 60-second super detailed exposure of the comet. It's gorgeous!!! ✨ If you capture a photo, share your photo in the comments—I’d love to see your take on this cosmic traveler! 🚀 If you read it this far, be sure to check out my 2025 calendars with 350+ Fun holidays!! 🙌😁

🌌 The Aurora Borealis! ✨ The showing from two nights ago was absolutely beautiful in the night sky! 🌙✨ This was the first time I was able to see the colors of the aurora with the naked eye. 👀 The timelapse is from roughly 1am — 3am as seen from the Columbia River Gorge. 📸🌲 ⚠️ Disclaimer: ⚠️ The aurora looks a lot more subtle to the naked eye! The camera can capture a lot more light and detail with longer exposures. 📷✨ That's part of the camera magic — seeing the beauty that's out there through the camera lens, even when I can't see it with my own eyes. 🌟🌠 @explorewhitesalmon @hoodriveroregon @kgwnews @explorethedalles @thedalleschamber @tealynsteashop

Today marks 5 years clean and sober from weed and alcohol. 🚫🍺🍁🚫 1,827 days. This was the single best decision I ever made. 🙏 Since then, I learned that addiction is just a symptom. At the surface level, addiction can present itself differently to various drugs, but the real problem is in my head. 🧠 I was selfish. I let others down, I let myself down. Those dark days had their place in my life and helped me become the person I am today. Addiction is not the greatest teacher, but still, I'm grateful for those lessons. 💙 Recovery isn't easy and doesn't come all at once. It's a process, not an event. That process is set in motion the moment we realize that there is a problem, and that there is more to life. 🌱 Before these last 5 years, I was sober for a year and a half with a 6-month relapse. I'm grateful that I somehow found my way back into sobriety and recovery. I hope to keep this streak going for the rest of my life, one day at a time. Life isn't perfect, and recovery isn't linear, but by being sober, I'm able to face life's challenges. There are ups and downs. I see many similarities to the challenges of climbing a mountain. It's hard. 🏔️ Sometimes I want to turn around. Heck, sometimes I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I might not know what awaits me at the top, but if I keep taking one step at a time, one after the other, the rewards are beyond my wildest dreams. ✨ I'm sharing this because reading about others overcoming addiction and their success stories is what inspired me into my own recovery path. What worked for me might not work for you and vice-versa, but it does get better! 🙌 Feel free to message me if you have any questions, I'm happy to share my experience. If you or someone you love struggles with substance abuse, there is help out there. 💚 Alcoholics Anonymous Marijuana Anonymous (yes, it's a thing) Recovery Dharma and Refuge Recovery (Buddhist approaches to recovery) "leaves" Sub-reddit for quitting weed

Successful capture of the comet! ☄ C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) I planned this photo-op just a few days ago after hearing and reading more about this once-in-a-lifetime comet. I used the app @Planitphoto for Android to scope out potential locations that lined up with prominent landmarks and found this amazing celestial alignment with the tip-top of Mount Hood. I woke up at 3:30am, drove an hour to Portland. To my surprise, the gate to the park was closed! I packed up my gear and briskly hiked the mile up to Powell Butte. Because of the bright skies and wildfire smoke on the horizon, the comet wasn't visble to the naked eye. The comet location was accurately predicted down to the second! At exactly 6:10:38, the comet surfaced on the back of my camera, just above the summit of Mount Hood! The comet is currently flying at about 67.33 km/s (41.83 miles/s). It will remain visible for the next 3 days to the East, The comet is visible very briefly just one hour before sunrise. From October 15-26 it will be visible to the West, one hour after sunset. At that time, it should appear brighter with the help of the night sky. I can't wait to document more of this comet!

I spent a total of 57 hours designing the calendar and pulling up (and verifying) fun holiday dates to fill up every single day of my 2025 calendars! A huge shout out and thank you to every single one of you that voted for images to be featured, or even just enjoyed viewing those images. Thank you! The files are off to the printers and off to production! I can't wait to ship them out!
