Beef, #PalmOil, pulp & paper, rubber, soy & timber are wiping out forests, but Big Agribusiness isn’t acting alone. Banks are bankrolling it. Despite a decade of net-zero pledges and sustainability promises, banks have poured $429 BILLION into companies driving deforestation since the Paris Agreement. Voluntary pledges have failed — it’s time to regulate finance. See the data here: /banking-on-biodiversity-collapse/ #BankingOnBiodiversityCollapse #COP30 #DefundDeforestation

NEW REPORT: We scored 10 brands for their effort to protect rainforests and end human rights abuses. The results? 4 are lagging, another 5 are idling in the middle of the pack, and just ONE brand can be considered a leader on forest policy. These major brands continue to do business with harmful agribusiness companies around the world – fueling forest destruction and the climate crisis. End deforestation and rights abuses now! Courageous people across the globe are taking action every day to stop business-related human rights and environmental harms, despite increasing restrictions on civic freedoms and the risk of attacks. This major new analysis from Business and Human Rights Centre unpacks the global scope and scale of attacks – the highest number in the past 5 years. They found that there were nearly 800 attacks on human rights and environmental defenders in 2025. Thirty percent of those were against Indigenous people, who only make up 6% of the world's population. Explore the analysis at the link in our bio 🔗

More Perfect Union visited some of our partners in Louisiana to investigate how the methane gas (#LNG) boom is threatening fishing families and their livelihoods 🐠 Repost @perfectunion . Americans households paid at least $12 billion more for natural gas last year than 2024. The culprit? Record-breaking exports sending energy overseas. We went to Louisiana to see how fishermen and their families are getting squeezed in the quest for greater profits. Video by: Paul Blest, Drew Hawkins, and Ian McKenna

Factory farming is expanding at a frightening pace. 🐔🐷 Billions of dollars are being ploughed into megafarms across the world. But there is a better way to produce our food. Governments and global organizations like @worldbank @ifc_org are convinced that industrial factory farms are the only way to feed everyone on our planet. Yet farming that works with people and the planet rather than against it can still produce enough food, without the cruelty and environmental damage of factory farms. While fossil fuel companies profit off of war, communities around the world pay the price. The U.S. government is using this as an opportunity to expand fossil fuel production, proving that they can mobilize massive renewable energy development, and are choosing not to.
