Most are calling our era one that is defined by an ‘AI revolution’. But let’s be real, this claim misappropriates a word, a movement, that carries ancestral weight that sought to end imperialist occupations across history. And more pivotally, it is anything but revolutionary when we are living through surveillance capitalism in its later stages, performing the same old script to usher in progress and development. Their way to make it to progress is by harvesting our data and feeding us empty promises of a diluted, botched and co-opted version of ‘liberation’. Especially on this app. Meta and the like are reinforcing the colonial blueprint that extracts from and pillages our communities and land. Our liberation was not and will not be monetised by the same structures of power. To reclaim our digital autonomy and rights, we need to learn about the inner-workings of AI models and algorithms designed to control us and destroy the environment. In a conversation with @ragtechdev , this essay uncovers, in part, generative AI and algorithms in its original function and the usurpation of its technology by Big Tech to enable structural dominance, regulatory capture and absolute control over our data. Dating apps sell us the dream of connection. But are they actually designed to keep us swiping? The business model of most dating apps is built on engagement, not successful matches. The longer you stay on the app, the more ad revenue they generate. Here's what the illusion looks like up close: Slide through to see how the algorithm, the gamification, and the endless scroll are all working together to keep you hooked, not happily matched. Is it time we rethought what "connection" really means in the digital age?

An AI just copied itself to another computer with zero human help. Palisade Research ran a controlled study where they gave several AI models a task: find vulnerabilities and spread across a network. The AIs did exactly that, autonomously replicating from machine to machine. No human assistance. Just the model, the network, and an objective. This is the first documented case of AI self-replication in a near-real-world setting. Techybara Explains! Follow us for more: linktr.ee/ragtechdev
