Demo of custom designed LED Bow Tie! (Can also be worn in hair!)
-You control the action with 3 buttons:
-Select from 6 levels of brightness
-Select from 13 colors
-Select from 9 effects
-Select from 1 basic + 2 sound reactive modes.
LED effects are kinda hard to capture on camera but very eye catching in real life. You can set it dim as a subtle highlight, or crank up the brightness & effects and be the center of attention. Wore it for a fancy outing with my wife and got 2 compliments from women I didn't know in 2 hours

Progress on a new HW project: RGBowTie, a Sound Reactive LED Bowtie!
*The controls & HW are done, just hashing out sound reactivity code. Funny thing is experimentation requires silence, a rare commodity round here!
*Making LEDs respond in a visually pleasing way that matches music in real time is surprisingly challenging. Esp considering I'm capped to 8kb.
*Helpful to have a clone device hooked up to my pc to plot the output. First plot is the raw feedback when I say "Hey Hey" Just a few squiggly lines! (flat 270 is silence) A microphone is just a speaker in reverse, those lines are approximations of the sound wave amplitude.
*I want it to react to music in a silent room the same as a concert. The electronics have auto gain & SW normalizes the ambient sound with a rolling decaying average, so it can respond to sudden changes from ambient (the part of the beat you notice most)
*Second plot is the signal after I do some fun math (flat 0 is silence, 2 response algorithms shown). Now I have something to work with! Still gotta play with how the device uses this, rapidly varying brightness too much is hard on the eyes!
*Fun mistake: I discovered a discrepancy between plotted output & actual output. Turns out the battery voltage will sag briefly when the brightness ramps up, & that affects the mic signal! Resolved with noise threshold and resulting loss of low end sensitivity. nbd
*Im using 2 giant coin cells. Think theyll last a few hours but as they age the white light can sag yellow at full brightness. I LIKE that theyre replaceable vs rechargeable though. Similar to refueling a gas car vs recharging electric on a road trip.
*Super excited & close to posting up the first batch for sale! Def stands out & will be fun for special events. Also had a surprisingly functional use as a flashlight during a recent power outage
