House update! First is a starting pic I’ve already shown so you can have a baseline. So shockingly the remodel is going to take a bit longer, because we found structural damage (yea me). The water/sewage damage ruined a major beem in my house on the middle floor of my house (I have a basement, main floor and upper floor). Here are some pics of this, first the removed flooring (hello basement!!) then the mid step of working but keeping it minimally safe. (Oh and they found black mold by my fridge). Also basement work below kitchen is almost ready for dry wall already. And work to the living room is getting started (see last picture) bye carpet. Can’t wait for more! (Hopefully more smoothly)
For those interested in following my remodel with me…
Here is before demolition and after. Goodbye old cabinets and flooring. (I actually loved that flooring but I found something better for us and for our new kitchen remodel) Might not post next week since it will be drywall and structural work.
Feeling a little nostalgic about my kitchen. I’ve lived in my house for 5.5 to 6 years and the kitchen has never been my favorite part of the house. I hated the white cabinets, so a few years ago I painted it. And while I loved the color, I hated the upkeep. In early December, we found a plumbing issue that was causing water damage to our kitchen and basement. See pics at the end. And now I have been working with insurance the last 4 months and get to build a kitchen myself. I’m super invested the project and loving it. And felt like I should share my experience. While living without a stove and oven is terrible, I am looking forward to my new kitchen. Stay posted for more updates…
Went to a birthday party and Vivian got to show off her climbing skills and teach me a few things. She has been going climbing with her dad, but I might have to join in. It was super fun and great workout.
Adventures in sourdough! I’m a little late on my Covid hobby but I’m having a good time. I’ve made bread, scones, and muffins in the last 2.5 weeks. I might be more about the discard recipes than peak recipes. #sourdough #adventuresinsourdough #deliciousproblems #myyeastisrising #oopsididitagain #pleasekeepeatingmypracticebreads #newhutchbecauseofmybreadhobby #intosoughdoughgivemeyourdiscardrecipes
It’s cookie season again and Vivian is doing awesome this year! We sold a bunch of cookies with the American Red Cross and they let us hand them out to veterans at the VA near us. It made other people’s day and ours as well. #girlscout #VA #veterans #cookies #servingourcommunity
Sylvie wanted to wear her raccoon costume today with pjs underneath and this mama is all for it! If the world makes you feel like it’s a dumpster fire, I hope you dress as a raccoon like my kid. #toddlerinspiration #americaisadumpsterfire #healthcareisonfire #29daysofstriking #providencecandobetter
Vivian’s troop is selling cookies again. Please feel free to order to support her activities this year. She wants to do more overnight trips with her friends, horseback riding, and help the community. /scout/vivian741589
