Congratulations to Lightwriters on our one year anniversary in Ravenswood🎉 Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us yesterday. A special thank you to @z__o__e__l__l__e and her family for making it all possible. It has truly been a pleasure to me and so many others. We love you, thank you and cheers to many more years to come. Long live Neon and Lightwriters 🌈
The fear of what’s ahead may create a daunting and debilitating reality in our present minds where we lose parts of ourselves. There’s no denying that what is upon us is scary, but we must carry on and do what we can to support one another. It is a power greater than anything to love the earth, our people, and one’s self, because with love comes a great strength of joy. As long as love is prioritized, the pain of this moment won’t last forever.
This exhibition showcases the voices of the queers of right now, but we wouldn’t be here without the queers that came before us: queers who existed loudly in worlds that lacked any bit of mainstream appeal, and who fought for us to be here. To live authentically as one’s self is an act of defiance in the name of love that opposes the voices of bigotry. To live freely may fuel outrage in others who are unwilling to understand their own identity, but it is through this freedom that we make room for those who are ready to learn, and understand. This is the legacy of the queers, and like our elders, it is our duty to preserve this tradition for future generations. This show is dedicated to the femmes, butches, enbies, and every queer in between from every point in time, but especially those in the now. It is our time. Thank you.
I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to showcase the work of some really amazing queer people (especially right now), and I just want to thank all the artists who are taking part in this moment. Thank you for being you and thank you for the work you bring into this world. I am honored to have each of you be apart of this moment. 🖤🤎🩷🤍🩵❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Neon Techniques is an introductory course offered to students where they learn the basics of neon as a creative practice. In this course students are taught the essentials on how to bend glass, and the science that goes into making neon based work. Neon Techniques is offered in two formats; the first being exclusively in the fall semester with Greg Mowery, and the second being a shortened 3 week course offered in both the winter, and summer terms, taught by Kacie Lees.
For their final the Summer 23’ Neon Techniques class was instructed to create any work of neon they desire.
Want to see the work in person? Check out Maclean’s 4th floor flex space from now until September 22, 2023 to see student work from this past summer session.

Wowowowwowowow big transformation and lots of magic happening for Elizabeth 🪄✨✨✨🤩
Thank you Elizabeth for trusting me so much and absolutely loving this outcome! We did a transformative cut and did a jelly fish bob, and raccoon tails all throughout the long layers and top panel 🖤🖤🖤
To book fun colors, please have a consult with me! They’re 15 min long and can be done in person or through zoom. We’ll talk about ideas, pricing, etc
This haircut was booked as a razor/ transformation cut. As always, DM me with any questions
