When I first read Angels in America in college, it changed my life. I immediately fell in love with its audacity, its artistry, and its sheer moxy to tell a story so grand it would take two shows to encompass its single narrative. Ever since, I’ve been obsessed with doing the same. But, ya know, via my own brand of left-of-center storytelling and theatrical mischief. And, now, after 25 years since I picked up those plays, here’s my duology - #Vietgone and the newly published #PoorYellaRednecks. These are my most personal writings - a love letter to my parents, my grandma, my kids, my family, my hometown… and definitely my wife. So if you’re looking for a stocking stuffer for any of your theatre-loving friends, you can pick up both from Concord Theatricals. Link in bio.
No one asked me to do it, but I decided to string 65,000 words together. At some point I should probably try to have them make sense. But for now, look at all the paper I murdered.
Had a wonderful time at the William Inge Theatre Festival connecting with artists, students, and new friends. Thanks for the honor and the moment of reflection with my dude @robertrosspark . Still feels like yesterday when we met and made our first bit of mischief in the halls of @ohiouniversitytheater
As I continue my decade-plus journey of telling stories at 24fps, 2025 was the year I rekindled my love of looking at life through a single frame. Happy New Year, everyone. Here’s to 2026 bringing you laughs, great stories, and opportunities to make amazing new memories with the people you love.
