Jack Kerouac Mural Dedication at St. Jean Baptiste Church, Proposed Future Home of Jack Kerouac Center During Lowell Celebrates Kerouac Weekend SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13 11AM-1PM A stunning new mural commemorating legendary Beat Generation writer Jack Kerouac will be officially unveiled at St. Jean Baptiste Church on Sunday, October 13th, from 11AM to 1PM as part of Lowell Celebrates Kerouac. The former church, where Kerouac once served as an altar boy, is the proposed future home of the Jack Kerouac Center, a cultural hub dedicated to celebrating the life and work of the acclaimed author. The mural became reality with major support from State Senator Ed Kennedy and created by renowned artist Kori Thomas, professionally recognized as the artist Quest Nine. It is a vivid tribute to Kerouac’s life and work, capturing his restless spirit, creative brilliance, and his connection to the church. St. Jean Baptiste Church, which holds a special place in Kerouac’s early life, is the ideal backdrop for this celebration. Day 3 of posting past projects until I get a commission from it. In February 2022, my art therapy focused “Vibrant Minds: Creating Identity” youth program was born. Through leadership training with @communitywordproject ‘s Teaching Artist Program I learned Grant Writing, Universal Design for Learning, and many techniques I still implement today. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to work alongside all of my students I can happily call my friends. This project focused on positive affirmations and “I AM” statements! I am. Day 2 of posting past murals until I get a commission from it :) I painted this April 2025 when the Libraries and Arts were defunded in New Hampshire at the end of an alleyway called The Library Walk, leading people from Main Street to the Nashua Library. Fun fact, every author I painted spoke up and warned against the horror of Fascism, and most of them have banned books 📚 The child hiding in the books reading, is none other than my son, there were more kiddos reading in the original design but it was also a bit political so they had me change some things around.
