Two queer ex-church kids found the same new tribe.
Sam was in community theatre when his church gave him the ultimatum.
Aaron started musical theatre right before he came out and was kicked out of his church.
There are new communities out there. A choir. A team. A class. A group chat. Anywhere people will see you and celebrate you for who you already are.
Which ones are you being led to?
Episode 2 out now. Samâs full story.

Sam left this church because they wouldnât accept him.
Years later, he found out that he was the catalyst for change.
The day before his birthday, he listened to the episode where his old pastor told the world sheâd been wrong. He had no idea his story had reached them. No idea Gateway had become fully affirming.
The change wasnât for him. It was because of him.
This is what real change looks like. Samâs full story is on the podcast now.

For anyone stuck inside something that feels too small to leave.
Sam said it on our podcast: âOnce you look up, itâs so much easier to see the beauty elsewhere.â
The world is bigger and more beautiful than we think.
Episode 2. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.

A common phrase in churches is: âCome as you are.â
What it actually means: You are welcome here! But, if you want to stay, youâre going to have to change.Â
Samâs pastor literally said it on our podcast last season: âCome as you are. But donât stay as you are.âÂ
Itâs the welcoming-but-not-affirming trap. And it still hurts the people it claims to love.
Episode 2 out now. Samâs full story.

Coming out, especially in environments that arenât affirming or accepting of lgbtq+ people needs to be done carefully and on your own terms.Â
The pain of being outed is severe.
Trusting anyone again is hard.
Sam found out his church knew he was gay from a youth leader over coffee.
Listen to his full story now, wherever you get your podcasts.

When Sam first shared his story, he didnât name the church. He didnât drag the leadership down. He spoke with grace and love.
When asked why, he said: âIt was not for me. It was for the young gay kids that are going through this now.â
The path toward change is paved with love.
Episode 2 with Sam is out now.

Some of us didnât know what happened to us was in fact traumatic, until someone outside our world named it.
Sam grew up in church. Then he came out. Then his pastor pulled him into a dinner and gave him an ultimatum. He didnât realise how badly that had hurt him until his therapist said one sentence: âIâm so sorry that happened to you.â
Season 2, Episode 2 is out now. Samâs full story.

Samâs pastor invited him over for a roast chicken dinner. Then told him he was welcome, but here are the conditions.
The dinner was lovely, the message was hard to hear, the impact was long lasting.

Sam just wanted to go to church.
Ps. Marcy from Gateway Church remembers the conversation, a young gay man, ready to plug in, told he was welcome⌠as long as he stayed in the box.
Weâve recorded Samâs episode, itâs out tomorrow. But before we air it, we wanted you to hear this moment from season one first.

Season 2 belongs to all of us.
If thereâs a topic we should be diving intoâŚ
If thereâs a guest we need to have onâŚ
If youâve got a story that needs to be platformed, let us know.
What we wonât platform is hate. Thereâs enough of that voice already, screaming in every corner of the internet. This table is for affirming, curious, honest conversations.
Drop your suggestions. DM us. We read everything.

We got a message recently from a young person who used to come to Aaronâs old church as a kid.
Now theyâre stepping into adulthood. And through season one of this podcast, through stories like Stef Fentonâs, they finally have permission to ask the questions theyâve been carrying their whole life.
This is why we keep going.
You canât be what you canât see. So we keep showing up. Keep telling the stories. Keep being visible.
If youâre early in your journey, find someone whoâs lived this. Follow them. Let them prove itâs possible.
