By hand.
Quartered is a New York furniture studio designing and building original pieces that balance technical precision with the presence of the maker. Their debut: a low, rectilinear coffee table hand-painted in six distinct colorways, with a glossy base coat that sharpens every brushstroke, graphic and tactile at once. A discreet push-to-open drawer holds small curiosities or the devices of daily life. Color compositions drawn from the work of Sanza Wada, no two tables are identical.

One of the coffee tables in Dark Tyrian and Lite Glaucous blue making an appearance at the Afternoon Light Design Fair.
At its core, this table is about presence. It’s not shy in a living room. It’s graphic and tactile. The hand striped surface contrasts with the finish and reminds you, every time you gather around it, that it was made by hand. What I love most is how straightforward the piece is. You don’t need a background in woodworking or design to understand the time, care, and energy that went into making it — it’s all there to see. Many thanks to @vanzeesignco 🖌️ @nate_mumford 📸
