The Water Doesn't Care What's In Your Inbox.
There's something remarkable that happens the moment you get out on the water. The mental noise, the emails, the deadlines, the endless scroll... it doesn't follow you out there.
Sailing demands everything from you. The wind shifting, the boat heeling, the trimming of the sails. Your mind can't wander to tomorrow's worries when it's fully occupied with right now. That complete absorption in a physical task is one of the most powerful forms of stress relief there is, its a "flow state," and we stumble into it almost without trying.
The water has its own rhythm. It gives a perspective shift that's genuinely hard to find on land. You're part of something bigger and somehow that makes your problems feel their actual size, rather than the enormous shape anxiety gives them.
At QM, we believe getting people on the water isn't just about sport, it's about wellbeing. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we're proud to be part of something that gives people a genuine escape, a challenge, and a community.
Come and find your calm. 🌊

We’re still buzzing from yesterday’s windy demo day at Queen Mary Sailing Club.
So good to see sailors absolutely sending it and discovering what the BirdyFish can do.
Easy to sail. Fun to master. Made to fly.

Why sailing is brilliant for kids (and not in an obvious way)... Screen time down. Focus up. Turns out a bit of wind and water can do wonders.
Sailing and windsurfing teach kids to read conditions, problem-solve on the move, and work with nature rather than against it. There's also something quietly brilliant about being responsible for a boat - it builds a kind of calm confidence you don't get from a classroom.
Our junior courses are fully supervised by RYA qualified instructors. Your child doesn't need to be able to swim like a fish - just be comfortable in water with a buoyancy aid on.
May half term courses still have places

Fantastic to see 100+ people taking to the water at the Spelthorne Watersports Day, creating a fun atmosphere from the start. The water was full of action as participants enjoyed sailing, windsurfing, keelboating, wingsurfing, and stand-up paddleboarding.
With just enough wind to get things going, conditions were ideal for a fun and supportive introduction to watersports. Back on shore, the barbecue fired up by @clairecookssurrey kept everyone well fed and added to the social feel of the day.
It was great to see so many people trying something new and enjoying time out on the water. Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a success!
