Please enjoy some favourite moments of the Val Machin Opera Scenes 2026 from our opening night 💐
PS …It’s not too late to grab tickets for today’s show at 2:30pm😉
Classical Voice Students return with the Annual Val Machin Opera Scenes, directed by Lois Redman, with the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra conducted by Peter Luff. This year features scenes from 2 operatic favourites; Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro , the much loved tale of 17th Century marital misadventures, against a background of political unrest, and Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffman, the magical tale of the poet, Hoffman recounting the tales of his failed romances.

From QLD Con to Seoul 🇰🇷✨
One of our students Louise Whittaker is currently on an incredible journey as a 2026 New Colombo Plan Scholar, combining language study, exchange at Seoul National University, and an internship - all while continuing her classical voice training.
"Having finished my language training and now well into my university exchange, my highlights so far are definitely: studying under the head of Vocal Music Seo Hye Yeon (La Scala, Weiner Festwochen, Prague Festival), singing Korean music in the SNU choir, seeing the cherry blossoms, and eating lots of Tteokbokki! I am very grateful for the support I received from the vocal department at the QLD Con and Griffith SAE in my application. It's been such an incredible experience so far."
We’re so proud of you, Louise!
