🎶 Year-End Roundup: Festivals & Special Events Across DFW
This year wasn’t just about headline shows—it was about moments, milestones, and festivals that brought the Dallas–Fort Worth music community together. Jambaloo Fest made an impressive debut, activating venues across DFW and spotlighting both emerging and established artists. One of the standout sets came from rising indie favorite Slow Joy at Club Dada—an electric performance that felt like a true breakout moment. The festival wrapped up at Ferris Wheeler’s, which hosted the finale before later rebranding. The closing night delivered a stacked, Texas-rooted lineup featuring The Texas Gentlemen, Quaker City Nighthawks, Matthew Vasquez, and J Isaiah & The Boss Tweed—a fitting end that felt equal parts celebration and statement. One of the year’s most meaningful celebrations marked the 50th anniversary of Willie Nelson’s Red Headed Stranger. Held in Garland, the city where the album was originally recorded, the event brought together Ray Benson, Rhett Miller, Joshua Ray Walker, Max & Heather Stalling, and others for a night rooted in Texas songwriting tradition. The performance felt less like a tribute and more like a continuation of a legacy—an unmistakable highlight of the year. Closing things out, Carrollton Switchfest marked its 15th anniversary in downtown Carrollton with a nostalgia-packed lineup including Rick Springfield, Spin Doctors, Sixpence None the Richer, and Alien Ant Farm—a reminder that community-driven festivals remain a cornerstone of the North Texas music scene.
