The closest comparison for the looks of @qaherhar – the ‘first Palestinian male model’, as he’s been called – might be the classical features in a Fayum mummy portrait. It’s something he’s pointed out on his own Instagram. Imagine: almond-shaped Sanpaku eyes with feathery lashes, full cow-licked brows which knit together when he speaks, aquiline nose, and rosebud mouth with a beauty mark just right of the cupid’s bow. It’s the kind of soulful face you want to paint. Before the latest harrowing phase of war in the Middle East commenced in 2023, the 27-year-old appeared in multiple campaigns and shot magazine covers. His star was on an unyielding ascent. But at times, since, it’s felt like the work was drying up. London bucked the trend, however, in September, where four brands cast him to walk in their shows (Paolo Carzana, Ahluwalia, MAINS, HARRI) – the most he’s bagged in one season in one city since he started working, almost ten years ago. Born in East Jerusalem and dubbed the first Palestinian male model, Qaher Harhash relocated to Berlin in 2017 and has since walked for Prada, Hugo Boss, Dolce & Gabbana, and fronted a Jean Paul Gaultier campaign alongside none other than Bella Hadid.
