Did you know… in Canberra, some parents are skipping meals so their kids can eat? We spent a Saturday morning with @helpingact . Packing hampers. Meeting people. Listening. Then we sat in a room and heard the stories behind it all. Not statistics. Not headlines. Real moments from people on the ground, every day, captured by Nick Fuller from @canberradaily What stayed with us most was this… sometimes the hardest part isn’t asking for help. It’s not knowing where to go, or feeling like you shouldn’t need it in the first place. And yet, right here in our city, there are quiet systems holding people up. Volunteers. Street pantries. Small acts that make a big difference. This conversation with Muhammad Ali is just a glimpse into that world. Take a moment to listen. Then TAG or share the location of your favourite pantries and food relief providers so we can capture them all and make sure no one suffers for now knowing where to turn!!

She walks through life with music in her ears, but the work Katherine “Kat” Berney is doing is changing what people hear when they speak up. A survivor of domestic abuse, Kat has turned her lived experience into systems change, now leading prevention of gendered violence at FARE. Her work is about more than awareness. It’s about shifting the structures that allow harm to be normalised, and creating a future where people are believed, supported, and able to thrive. “I believe you. You matter. You are so deeply loved.” This is a story about courage, kindness, and the power of using your voice to change what comes next. 👉 Read the full story and meet Kat link in bio #PeopleWithPurpose #Canberra #EndViolence #CommunityStories #PurposeMediaCBR

There are some events we don’t just promote… we genuinely believe in. This is one of them. We’re proud to share that our founder, Heidi Prowse OAM, is the keynote speaker at the Home. Hope. Horizon. Charity Luncheon, hosted by Karinya House. This event brings together people who care deeply about what it takes to support women through some of life’s most vulnerable moments, pregnancy, early parenting, and the realities of domestic violence, homelessness, and financial hardship. For over 28 years, Karinya House has stood beside more than 2,800 women in Canberra. Not just with services, but with dignity, safety, and ongoing care. Heidi will be sharing reflections on what it means to build communities where people feel safe, supported, and seen. Drawing on both lived experience and years working across mental health, disability, and community services. If you’ve been part of the Purpose Media CBR community, you’ll know this is exactly why we exist. To make support easier to find, and to shine a light on the people doing the work. 📅 Friday, 22 May 2026 📍 Hotel Realm If you’re looking for something meaningful to attend this May, this is it. 🔗 Learn more (link in bio)

Canberra’s Digital Health Record is being called a “game changer”… but is it your experience? The ACT Government has just released new data showing how the Digital Health Record is improving care across our public health system. We’re talking: ✔️ Fewer unnecessary blood tests ✔️ Faster access to results ✔️ Better communication between doctors ✔️ Fewer medication errors On paper, it sounds like a system that’s making healthcare safer, faster, and more connected. But here’s the real question… What has your experience been like? Have you: Used the MyDHR portal? Received results faster? Felt more informed about your care? Or… found it confusing, hard to access, or not quite working as promised? Because behind every stat is a real person navigating the system. We’ve broken down what’s being reported, what it means for you, and the questions we should be asking next. Read our latest stories via the website purposemediacbr.au Tell us honestly, has the Digital Health Record improved your experience? Or do we still have work to do?

They’re not just talking about science… they’re changing who gets to be part of it 💡✨ Meet Isabel Richards and Ella McCarthy, the co-founders behind Sci_Burst, building a future where knowledge is accessible, hopeful, and for everyone. From inspiring the next generation of girls and non-binary students, to challenging who gets called an “expert”, their work reminds us that science isn’t something distant… it’s something we all belong to. “Science is for everyone!” And maybe, just maybe, the future isn’t as dystopian as we’ve been led to believe 🌱 👉 Read their full story now 👉 Tag someone who would love this #PeopleWithPurpose #CanberraStories #WomenInSTEM #ScienceForEveryone #CommunityVoices #PurposeMediaCBR

What did you do today? I spoke about a 16-year-old who now calls himself a badass at work. Representing @embracedisabilitygroup at @cbr_in First Wednesday Connect, sharing how real jobs and real support can completely shift someone’s future. This is the work I get to do through Purpose Media CBR, helping organisations tell stories that don’t just feel good, they change decisions. If you’re ordering catering soon, consider where your dollars go. You might feed your team… and change someone’s life at the same time.

New paths are coming to Spence and Fraser… but what does that actually mean for you? It’s easy to scroll past announcements like this. New paths. Wider roads. Infrastructure upgrades. But when you stop and think about it, this is really about something bigger. - Can you walk safely to the shops? - Can your kids ride their bikes without worry? - Can you get where you need to go without a car? We’ve broken it down into a simple Q&A so you can understand what’s changing, who it benefits, and the questions we should all be asking. Because good infrastructure isn’t just built… it’s felt in everyday life. We want to hear from you: Would you use these paths? What would make them work better for you? 🔗 Read the latest stories via link in bio.

Coercive control doesn’t always look like what you expect. At the EmpowerHer panel hosted by SiTara’s Story, we heard from local leaders working at the frontline of domestic and family violence, migration law, and multicultural advocacy and the message was clear: control can be quiet, complex, and often hidden in plain sight. From visa-related threats to cultural and language barriers, the conversation unpacked what’s really happening behind closed doors and how we, as a community, can respond with more understanding, trust, and action. This isn’t just about awareness. It’s about recognising the signs, knowing where to go for help, and making sure no one feels alone in navigating it. 👉 Check out our latest article to learn what we heard, what matters, and what needs to change. Some catering fills a table. Some catering builds a community. At Embrace Disability Group, every order does more than feed your guests. It creates real employment opportunities for people with disability, in roles that build confidence, independence, and long-term career pathways. This isn’t a feel-good add-on. It’s a high-quality catering experience delivered by a team who take pride in what they create, from fresh, generous menus to professional service that shows up and delivers. When you choose catering with purpose, you’re choosing: • Meaningful employment, not token roles • A team supported to succeed, not just placed • A business model built on inclusion and sustainability • Food that people genuinely enjoy and remember Whether it’s a corporate event, community gathering, or celebration, your booking becomes part of something bigger, helping keep people in jobs, building skills, and strengthening an inclusive local workforce. Next time you’re planning an event, ask yourself: What impact do I want this to have beyond the day? Book catering that makes it count.

Not Just Treatment, But a Way Back to Life. When a young person experiences psychosis, it doesn’t just affect their mental health. It interrupts everything. Study. Friendships. Confidence. Identity. But what happens next matters. Through headspace Early Psychosis Canberra, young people in Canberra are being met with something powerful… Not just clinical care, but a team that walks alongside them as they rebuild. In this story, we follow Lachlan’s journey. From withdrawing from university and losing connection, to slowly finding his way back. Even through relapse. Even through hospital. Now? He’s re-enrolled. Reconnecting. Rebuilding. Because recovery isn’t about going backwards. It’s about having the right support to move forward. This is what early intervention can look like. This is what the right care, at the right time, can do. 👉 Read the full story: https://purposemediacbr.au/not-just-treatment-but-a-way-back-to-life/
