A lot of my clients lately are asking about film options for their wedding video. It’s been so great to hear. I’ve been shooting on Super 8 and 16mm film for close to a decade now, and it was always something I hoped would catch on. In the past, I’d almost have to convince couples about it. A lot of couples simply refused it altogether, preferring the more polished digital look.
I think film will always have an ineffable quality that works so well for capturing the sentimental moments of a wedding day, and I’m glad to see it becoming more mainstream.
Alicia and Aitor came all the way from Spain for their Las Vegas wedding at the dry lake bed with @peachy_keen_unions . I had been shooting Super 8 for a while, but this was the very first roll of 16mm film I ever shot. The camera was an old Russian thing from the ’70s that I bought without even knowing if it worked. Alicia and Aitor graciously let me test a roll on them—and this is what came out. I’ve since invested in better cameras and have shot dozens of weddings on film that I hope to share more of here.
