Who’s ready for another of year of art, music, friends and community! Located in rural, unincorporated Thorp, Washington, PUNCH is just an hour-and-half east of Seattle, and centrally located between Spokane, Portland and the Methow Valley. A perfect stop on your way to the Gorge or other central Washington getaways. Our space welcomes the local community, visiting artists, travelers and guests from around the world to join us for art exhibitions, live music, film screenings, and other arts-related productions. In the Punch Gallery, join us for the continuation of “Friends of PLAYA” a multi-disciplinary exhibition of works by friends new and old who have shared in the experience of PLAYA, an artist retreat Center in south-central Oregon. Portland, OR’s Tyler berd fronts the band bellwire and has toured his solo act around the country, performing sad, funny songs on a nylon-string guitar. His solo act is sly and surreal, and owes a lot to Neil Young, Jonathan Richman, and the poetry of Charles Simic.  “Crafty inventive songs infused with humor, wit and absurdity” - La Crosse Tribune “Troubadour folk meets introspective bedroom pop in a collision of styles and expectations.” - Independent Clauses Not to mention, we’ve got beverages and snacks in the Punch Snack Bar. Friends of PLAYA: A Multidisciplinary Group Exhibition 🗓️ Every Saturday in May, 12-5pm 🎤 Live performances every Saturday from 3-5pm 📍 PUNCH Projects, 10630 N Thorp Hwy, Thorp, WA 98946 In 2024 one of the Punch founding members spent a month at PLAYA, and discovered the wonders of this magical windswept landscape. Creating new work and forging new friendships, a return visit in 2025 sparked the idea to share works by friends both new and old who share in the experience of this place. Situated on the northwest edge of the great basin near Summer Lake, Oregon, PLAYA offers residency opportunities and a range of educational and outreach activities in the arts, literature, natural sciences, and other fields of creative inquiry. PLAYA offers attendees the gift of time and space for personal growth, reflection and a creative reboot in an environment that is ripe with solace, isolation and a rugged sense of expansiveness. As a nonprofit organization, PLAYA’s mission is to promote dialogue and support positive change for our world and environment. I experienced such wonderful community while at my PLAYA Summerlake Art & Science residency in November 2025. Resident Renee Adams, a founding member of artist run Punch Projects, hatched the idea to create an exhibition of PLAYA alumni artists. This particular work was inspired by the place itself, and the stones and saline water were collected at Summer Lake and Lake Abert, Oregon during my residency. ‘I’m Not Scrying, You’re Scrying!’, Marne Lucas, 2025, obsidian mirror, wax candle, ceramic, stone, metal leaf, saline water, retroreflective glass beads, acrylic tray, vitreous porcelain, 10.25 x 14.25 x 3 inches.
