One of the best ceremonies in years and some of my most ambitious foods to date! Peace out 2025, it has NOT been a pleasure! It was a rough year for basically everyone I know—starting with the fires/inauguration really set the tone for the whole year. But there were some good things and I’m collecting them here as a reminder to myself.
—Wrapping up The Summer I Turned Pretty, the show that has meant SO much to me. If only 5 people ever watched it I would still be so proud of the work we did on this show, but as it happens it was also like one of the biggest shows of the year which was a real pinch me moment.
—Flew to Orlando to say goodbye to Muppets 3D with my sisters
—Saw my family again in NYC to see the absolutely jawdroppingly beautiful Ragtime.
—Did a road trip from Denver to LA, seeing Casa Bonita and Buc-ee’s for the first time!
—Dimension 20 at the Bowl
—Bringing my traveling pants to the 20th anniversary screening of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and telling Ken Kwapis how much it meant to me.
—Saw Weird Al in concert and had the supremely surreal experience of something I’ve edited playing in the FORUM.
—Worked with good people, had good times with good friends, and the dogs, as always, were good.
Everyone give it up for @lindsay_armstrong89 —today is her latest episode of Summer and wooo boy is it a dramatic show one! Paris! People picking up the pieces of broken engagements! Team Staylor! Last week we incognito went to a Summer watch party at Jay’s Bar and it was everything. Also it’s easy to go incognito when you’re the editors because no one knows who you are.
I’m kind of running out of relevant Summer related photos to share, so here’s a slideshow of unrelated places in Wilmington and some of the delicious food I ate. Today’s episode is also very very dear to me and is the work of @sarahkucserka , bringing the drama that is a JOY to cut. God I love this show.
Last photo special shout out to @panicatthefetsko who was so so kind and helped pick up Wise Cheeze Doodles for me on my last day in Wilmington when I knew I wouldn’t have time to run to a grocery store.
It’s Wednesday so it’s another Summer I Turned Pretty day! Shouting out the rest of our amazing editorial team here at sadly the only in person event we were all at together!
On selfie duty is @katehixta , editor of today’s episode and episode 10! Despite working with her on season 2, this was the day I learned she was from Australia which blew my mind and also goes to show how remote remote work can be.
@lindsay_armstrong89 edited episodes 3/4/9–she started on season 1 with me and continues to be in the Han-verse on XO, KITTY!
Our fantabulous AEs— @eseani (again, co editor on episode 6), Sara (my ride or die), Amy who rolled with SO many punches, and @bmarchionda who continually wowed me with his VFX prowess. Yay team!
Today’s episode of Summer is another one I was in person in Wilmington for and was directed by the incomparable @judeweng !! I learned so much by watching her work, and she was kind enough to meet me for brunch and chat on one of my last days in NC! I apparently did not get any pictures of us, but I did get this picture of her and I taking the same photo of a delicious breakfast sandwich.
Also because I was on set, this episode was co-edited by @eseani ! Sean’s been on Summer since S1, he edited episode 2 of season 2 with me and made a triumphant return to co-edit this episode. And he did a killer job.
Today’s episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty is one I am particularly proud of. It was the episode I got to fly out to North Carolina for and shadow @jennyhan on her phenomenal directorial debut. Since starting on season 1, I’ve been remote 100% of the time—so to be able to meet crew members in person, see the sets, and watch this very special episode unfold was unspeakably special to me. I learned a LOT about the directing process and also I learned how much I love on set editing, watching a scene being filmed, taking notes, and taking those insights almost immediately back to the edit bay. This episode was truly a gift—and not for nothing it came out great.
