Today marks the official launch of the Youth Board Cookbook. Our 2025 Youth Board, spanning from Dominica to Singapore, spent months collecting the recipes and stories that define their cultures. 🥄 What you’ll find inside: - Personal stories: Read about the kitchen ‘oops’ moments and childhood memories that shaped our advocates. - Recipes for your actual kitchen and schedule: From quick, everyday meals to dishes worth slowing down for, as well as recipes dedicated to specific ingredients, there is something for everyone. - A glimpse into the bigger picture: Talking about our food systems is crucial, and the cookbook shows you how change can start small, right from your everyday meals! A massive thank you to our Youth Board members for the energy and creativity they’ve poured into this project. They’ve successfully bridged the gap between global food traditions and the need for a sustainable future, proving that every plant-based meal is a step toward a kinder, more sustainable world.👏 🔗 Grab your free copy at the link in our bio! 👏 Well done to all those involved: @brunnasachs , @cogiecogan , @ferdisonv , @harriet.vk , @lolarigolon , Jessica Cook, @marielle__williamson , @njokeraisa , @shreyaghodawat , @stellaccorrea , @vivvenkatram , Vladimir Mijatovic, @notdeku___ and @zoeadamopoulos #ProVeg #YouthBoard #SustainableFood #PlantBasedRecipes #GlobalFlavours

The Netherlands Government just slashed meat recommendations, and legumes are the new stars. 🇳🇱🫘 The Netherlands has officially updated its national food guide, the Schijf van Vijf, and it’s one of the boldest dietary shifts we’ve seen in Europe. The goal is clear: lower the environmental footprint while protecting public health. The big changes: ✅ Legumes: the target is now 250g/week (up from ~150g). ❌ Red meat: now capped at just 100g a week (roughly one small burger). 🧀 Dairy cheese: recommendations have been cut in half. This isn't just a suggestion on a website; it’s a policy shift. From Amsterdam banning meat advertising in public spaces to new guidelines for school and office catering, the Netherlands is moving fast toward a 50% plant-based future. 🌍💪 What do you think of the new guidelines? Let us know your thoughts below! 👇 #ProVeg #FoodPolicy #PlantBasedNetherlands #HealthyEating #ClimateAction #Legumes #NutritionGuide

Could the solution to food security in Africa be growing in its own soil? 🌍 Indigenous crops are often overlooked, but the ‘Mituki’ pigeon pea in Kenya serves as a powerful example of their untapped potential. By modernising this local staple through targeted research and development, we have seen: - Speed: it matures in half the traditional time without losing quality. - Scale: a projected 700% surge in seed production for the coming season. - Stability: it de-risks smallholder farming while meeting immediate market demand. This success demonstrates how African nations can achieve greater production self-sufficiency and economic growth. When countries invest in crops already adapted to local climates, the return on investment is both financial and foundational. Need a refreshing side dish but short on time? 🥕 Brunna Sachs is showing us how to make Salpicão, a traditional Brazilian carrot salad that’s a staple in her home. It hits every texture with grated tofu, crisp apples, and a generous topping of shoestring potatoes. Find this recipe in the “In a Dash” section of the new Youth Board Cookbook. 🍴 Happy cooking! From longevity to cognitive health, the latest research continues to highlight the transformative power of plants. We’ve rounded up four essential recent updates that prove what we put on our plates is our most powerful tool for a healthier future: 1️⃣ Live longer with legumes! 🫘 A University of Sydney study in Nature analysed 101 countries over 60 years and found that plant-based protein is linked to significantly longer adult life expectancy. Swapping animal products for nuts, seeds, and grains helps slash the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. It’s not just about adding years to your life, but life to your years! 2️⃣ Breathe easier on a plant-based path. 🚭 Research in the Journal of the COPD Foundation found that former and current smokers who followed a nutrient-dense, plant-based diet had a 56% lower risk of emphysema. High fibre and antioxidants help repair cellular damage and reduce the systemic inflammation often caused by smoking. 3️⃣ The AHA goes plants-first. ❤️ The American Heart Association has updated its guidance, now explicitly recommending plant proteins over meat to combat cardiovascular disease. This isn't just about swapping red meat for chicken; it’s a total shift toward beans, peas, and lentils as the gold standard for heart health. 4️⃣ Protect your brain as you age. 🧠 A landmark study in Neurology® following 92,000 participants found that high-quality plant diets (whole grains, fruits, and veggies) are linked to a lower risk of Alzheimer’s. Even better? Participants who switched to healthy plant foods later in life still saw an 11% lower risk of dementia. It’s never too late to start! The science is clear: embracing nutrient-dense, whole plant foods is essential for our bodies, our minds, and the planet. Which of these research breakthroughs inspires you the most? Tell us in the comments! 👇 #ProVeg #PlantBasedNutrition #BrainHealth #HeartHealth #Sustainability #HealthyAging

Meet @harriet.vk , one of the young advocates on the ProVeg 2025 Youth Board who worked across time zones to bring this cookbook to life. 🧑‍🍳 Representing Europe, Harriet contributed her favourite versatile pancake recipe, a staple she’s loved since she can remember. In this video, she shares what it was like to collaborate with youth voices from five global regions to bridge the gap between cultural heritage and a sustainable food future. 🥞 Whether you’re making her pancakes on a slow Sunday or need a quick fix during a busy week, this cookbook shows that change starts right on our plates. 🔗 Download your free copy of the Youth Board Cookbook now - link in bio! #ProVeg #YouthBoard #PlantBasedLiving #SustainableFood #CookbookLaunch

It's the US National Soya Foods Month! 🫛 Most of us associate soya with plant-based milks and tofu, but the reality is quite different! Did you know the vast majority of soya grown globally isn't for human consumption? Our new data sheet breaks down the truth: over 75% of global soya production is used to feed farmed animals. 🐄🐖🐓 This huge demand is a major driver of environmental impact, from land use to deforestation, particularly in critical regions like the Amazon and Cerrado. Swipe to see the shocking stats and discover the true footprint of our food choices. It's time to talk about how we can make our food system more efficient and sustainable! 🔗 Link in bio for the full Food System Data sheet! #SoyaTruth #FoodSystems #EnvironmentalImpact #SustainableEating #ProVeg

Last week, in The Hague, on behalf of 34,442 people, we said: stop the meaty-name ban! 📣 On your behalf, we called on the House of Representatives to urgently amend the outdated "Minced Meat Act" (Gehaktwet), which currently prohibits the name ‘plant-based mince.’ Especially now that the EU is pushing for a ban on names like ‘plant-based steak’ and ‘chicken-style chunks,’ we are calling on the government to protect plant-based alternatives. Our message: politicians, do not give in to the meat industry lobby. Amend the law and make mincemeat of the meat-name ban! 🔪🥘 To everyone who signed: a huge thank you! With your help, we’ve successfully put this issue on the political agenda. We won’t stop until Dutch law catches up with the times and 'plant-based mince' is protected! 📸: Floor Fortunati #ProVeg #veggieburgerban #petition

What does real progress in food-system transformation look like? Our 2025 Impact Report goes beyond milestones – it shows how change is happening on the ground. From helping institutions put more plant-based meals on plates, to working with companies to shift product portfolios, to driving policy conversations at national and international levels. It’s a story of leverage: small shifts in the right places creating outsized impact. And perhaps most importantly, it shows how collective action is accelerating change faster than ever before. If you're interested in where the food system is heading, and how to be part of that shift, this report is worth a read. 👉 Explore the full report- link in bio! #ProVeg #FoodSystems #Sustainability #PlantBasedLiving #SystemsChange #ImpactReport
