Review on our current exhibition Transit in todays newspaper het Parool. The reviewer describes the exhibition as featuring ‘exceptionally strong artworks’ while questioning the didactic framework, comparing it to current exhibitions such as Manosphere at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. This is one of the central dialogues in presenting contemporary art today. Come and experience the exceptionally strong artworks in conjunction with the future pathways presented by SIL, a think tank focused on climate transition and sustainable industry. #contemporaryart #climatecrisis #videoart #parool #artreview

TRANSIT Natascha Libbert Site-specific photo installation, 2026 24 photographs, fine art print on Hahnemühle paper, aluminium rods, nylon wires Natascha Libbert’s photographs trace the indelible mark that human presence leaves on nature, and are permeated by a profound sense of urgency. Her installation consists of twenty-four panels suspended from the ceiling of the exhibition space that form a Forest of Wonder. Each photo presents a landscape in which the facts become tangible. On the reverse of each photo is a text by SIL, an academic think tank for sustainability. Visitors move between both sides of each work: between words and image, between analysis and experience. And where the texts end with a call for accountability, some of the photos show that, after destruction, the Earth can blossom again. Some images depict moments of destruction at times when crises are converging. Others show the beginning of something new. In her work, Libbert focuses on a world of both destruction and recovery. The question that arises from these images is: how do we survive in a world like this? Libbert’s images are rich in colour and alluring in form. Their chromatic richness draws the viewer in, only to reveal something changeable and unsettling beneath the surface. Natascha Libbert is a Dutch photographer whose work reflects a quiet determination. Her images represent both sustainability and destruction, accountability, and complicity. Our spring exhibition TRANSIT opens on April 16, opened by Secretary of State for Climate and Green Growth, Jo-Annes de Bat. Climate, industry and prosperity are inextricably linked. Intervening in one inevitably affects the others. This creates friction. TRANSIT brings contemporary art into dialogue with academic inquiry. Featuring works by Heike Baranowsky, Matt Calderwood, john gerrard, Reynold Reynolds & Patrick Jolley, Martti Kalliala & Daniel Keller, Thiago Rocha Pitta, Cristina Lucas, Natascha Libbert. researchers include Laetitia Ouillet, Sanne Akerboom, Maxine Fromm and Gert Jan Kramer. An initiative of the Sustainable Industry Lab (SIL), exploring future scenarios for industry. special thanks: Julia Stoschek Foundation Berlin, ING Collection, tegenboschvanvreden gallery and private collectors photo: Natascha Libbert, title PH-BFH #contemporaryart #amsterdamart #ndsm #amsterdamexhibition #climatetransition #contemporaryfilm #mixedmedia #contemporaryexhibition

Henk Stallinga — Zwerk (2025) For the current exhibition at On The Inside, Henk Stallinga presents a major new site-specific installation. Suspended wooden panels—lifted from the architecture of the exhibition itself—float freely in space, catching shifting daylight and casting moving shadows across the floor. Drawing on the notion of zwerk, the work evokes instability, transience, and spatial disorientation, subtly blurring the boundary between exhibition and environment. 📷 Photos by Fabian Landewee Zwerk (2025), installation of 24 wooden panels suspended on nylon wire Courtesy of the artist and Gerhard Hofland Gallery, Amsterdam @henkstallinga @studio_stallinga #HenkStallinga #Zwerk #OnTheInside #InstallationArt #SiteSpecific #ContemporaryArt #ArtInstallation #LightAndSpace #SpatialArt #ConceptualArt #ArtInSpaces #ShadowAndLight

Jānis Avotiņš — Untitled #12 A lone figure suspended between visibility and erasure. Working from antique photographs and Soviet-era media, Avotiņš distills memory into something spectral and timeless. The surrounding darkness feels both protective and overwhelming. Thomas Ruff — 13h 00m / –40 (1989) part of the exhibition ZWERK at On The Inside. For this series, Thomas Ruff acquired original telescope negatives from the European Southern Observatory in Chile. These scientific plates recorded sections of the visible universe through a specialised lens. Ruff selected star fields arbitrarily, then enlarged and reoriented them far beyond their original scale. Through this intervention, noise, distortions and shifts appear—images that no longer correspond to an actual astronomical view. What emerges is a tension between scientific observation and artistic construction. Ruff examines the reliability of photography itself: when is an image a document, and when is it an interpretation? Ruff (b. 1958) is regarded as one of the leading figures in contemporary photography and is closely associated with the Düsseldorf School. His work combines found imagery, digital manipulation and established photographic techniques to question the foundations of the photographic medium. #ThomasRuff @thomasruff_com #ZWERK #OnTheInsideAmsterdam #ContemporaryPhotography #DüsseldorfSchool #ArtExhibition #AmsterdamArt #PhotoHistory #AppropriationArt

Installation view of Nicolas Provost, Moving Stories (2011) — part of ZWERK at On The Inside, on view until 4 Jan 2026. Using stock footage of aircrafts in flight, Provost turns familiar images into a cinematic, almost suspended experience. Off-screen dialogue and repetition invite viewers to imagine what lies beyond the frame — echoing the essence of ZWERK: a space between clarity and ambiguity. photo by Fabian Landewee Moving Stories, 2011 One-channel video & sound installation 7:00 min #ZWERK #NicolasProvost @nicolas.provost #MovingStories #OnTheInside #InstallationView #VideoArt #ArtistFilm #ContemporaryArt #ArtSpace #AmsterdamArt
