Henk Stallinga — Zwerk (2025) For the current exhibition at On The Inside, Henk Stallinga presents a major new site-specific installation. Suspended wooden panels—lifted from the architecture of the exhibition itself—float freely in space, catching shifting daylight and casting moving shadows across the floor. This video installation 'Heimweh' was part of the exhibition 'Fragments of Sphere' at project space On The Inside in 2021, an interdisciplinary exhibition featuring monumental artworks by eight artists: David Claerbout, Cyprien Gaillard, Claudia Martínez Garay with Arturo Kameya, Saskia Noor van Imhoff, Matthew Day Jackson, Amalia Pica, Henk Stallinga, and Bill Viola. "Video installation ‘Heimweh’ explores and depicts the notion of the sea and memory, scattered across 12 sculptural screens. The multi-channelled video reflects on memory as an often faded, fragmented experience. The video shows waves breaking on a sandy beach before disappearing into an enigmatic, toxic green fog. The organic shape of the red, screen casings mimics natural forms while also appearing totally alien. They seem as if they have just washed ashore themselves. Light sculpture 'Chain Reaction' in contemporary dance production 'Extremalism' by Ballet National de Marseille and ICKamsterdam. The notion and experience of time through the spatiality, light, and movement of the 'Chain Reaction' can be experienced in various executions. Depending on its location and duration of its exposure, the experience can be made specific. The time-based nature of the sculpture was edited to fit the duration of the performance. The light and movement of the sculpture merged with choreography and music. ‘Heap of Faith’ by @henkstallinga Two wheel barrows are inextricably connected by a heap of earth. Moving the barrows would ultimately result in a total collapse of ‘the heap’ and the work itself. The Dutch title is ‘hoop’ which means both ‘heap’ and ‘hope’. Heap of faith was on show at Kunsthal Charlottenburg in Copenhagen Denmark and Kunsthal KAdE in the Netherlands.
