Isla ā¦. born with the odds stacked against her. Resuscitated at birth and starved of oxygen due to a mild brain injury (HIE) due to a cord prolapse following the delivery of her twin brother first. She thankfully made a full recovery following three days of cooling at birth.
She inspires me every day and when I say she is a fighter warrior evenā¦I can see sheās from a strong line of females within my lineage! I learn so much from her and through her eyes. Taking a moment to pause⦠ā¦.stop the noise and constant demands and just listen to nature and move in nature. Pure dopamine hit! Dopamine is that high we all enjoy but it is far healthier to get it from nature and outside and moving our bodies. Comparison is a lie. Note to self and those I coach!
As a coach and an athlete myself, one of the hardest things I have to remind everyone is this: stay in your own lane.
You are comparing your chapter 3 to someone elseās chapter 20.
Their highlight reel to your behind-the-scenes.
Their rested body to your exhausted one.
Their training block to your season of survival.
You donāt know what someone is sacrificing, hiding, healing from, or carrying.
I coach runners from every stage of life ā new mums, people rebuilding after injury, athletes navigating grief, burnout, anxiety, heartbreak, stress. And comparison steals progress from all of them.
Because the moment you obsess over someone elseās pace, body, mileage, race result, or comeback⦠you disconnect from your own journey.
The athlete who improves the most is rarely the one screaming the loudest online.
Itās the one quietly showing up consistently.
Staying patient.
Trusting the process.
Learning their own body.
Your lane is enough.
Your pace is enough.
Your progress counts too.
