Since its founding in 2013, Project LETS has been envisioning and enacting abolitionist alternatives to carceral psychiatric systems. After a decade of crisis response, free peer support and holistic healing, political education, and advocacy inside and outside locked wards, we’ve reached a critical financial juncture threatening the future of the organization. Due to an increasingly difficult and hostile funding landscape, Project LETS cannot continue to sustain operations without urgent support from our community. Our ask? divest from cages, reinvest in community care ❤️‍🔥 We’re starting a crowdfunding campaign to enable Project LETS to continue to fight for true abolition, leaving no one behind. Make a contribution at: /lets — Link in bio or scan the QR code in the images above. You can also take a screenshot and hold down the QR code to access the website. * You can also Venmo @projectlets and we will transfer all contributions to the campaign. Project LETS has always been primarily funded and supported by our community members, and we are so grateful to the Borealis Foundation for their consistent support of Project LETS. If you believe in this work, please help us continue providing these critical services and offerings. ❤️‍🔥 For information on where funds go and what we do at Project LETS, check out the information on the fundraising campaign! Every contribution is an act of solidarity. To honor your support, we’re offering small gifts rooted in community, creativity, and care (for contributions from $20-$100). When you make your contribution, please make sure you share your mailing address 💌 #ProjectLETS #PsychAbolition #DisabilityJustice #PeerSupport #AntiCarceralMentalHealth

📢 We need to be clear: Psychiatric survivors’ alignment with MAHA and the far right is a betrayal of our most marginalized members and Project LETS wants no part of it. Notice whose medications are under fire. Anti-psychiatry rhetoric in MAHA spaces fixates on antidepressants (medications more commonly prescribed to white, middle-class patients) while staying largely silent on antipsychotics, which are disproportionately forced on poor people, Black people, and people in institutions. That is a political choice. RFK Jr. is not our ally. He is actively pushing to EXPAND psychiatric incarceration. He has spoken openly about work camps, farms, and “re-housing” programs. He has specifically targeted Black children on ADHD medications with language about “re-parenting” and “re-housing” – framing state intervention into Black families as wellness. This is a new coat of paint on the same carceral system we’ve always been fighting. Project LETS remains committed to Mad Liberation rooted in Disability Justice, racial justice, and anti-carceral politics. NOTE: We will not hesitate to remove and block any comments or discussion that engages in racism, anti-Blackness, eugenics, or other harmful and oppressive language and ideologies. 🕊️ Please consider supporting one of our long-term peer supporters. They have an upcoming medical transition surgery which has been further complicated by chronic illnesses and new diagnoses. During surgery recovery they will be unable to do hard labor and gigwork, which they typically rely on for survival. All funds will go towards their food, recovery supplies and bills. Image description: A single slide has a light blue, textured background with imagery of chaotic crested waves and a bird flying above. The large heading text says “MUTUAL AID for disabled, intersex-trans person”. Smaller text states: “A long-time peer supporter and DJ organizer with LETS and elsewhere is in need of support for an upcoming medical transition surgery. They have been navigating decline in their chronic illnesses and new diagnoses as a result of complications and provider oversight during another recent procedure. All funds will go towards food, recovery supplies, and bills while they’re unable to do hard labor and gigwork for income. </3”. A box outlines ways to contribute through vnmo and CA using the username “notsoap”. DM for other methods!

Vale is in need of urgent support in Göttingen and remotely. Vale has extremely severe ME and is reliant on community efforts to get care. 💙 Some of Vale’s caregivers won’t be available after next week, so more are urgently needed. Vale also needs medical support, as Vale is becoming more malnourished each day. If you can support in any way, that will make a huge difference 💙 [image descriptions posted in pinned comment thread shortly] **posted by a supporter for Vale, who has limited communication capacities

Please note that this is a fundraiser event, and a donation is required to attend. We encourage donations to thái regardless of event attendance. Stay tuned for future SiQ events free of cost 💛[yellow heart] Sick in Quarters (SiQ) is a transnational network of disabled and chronically ill artists and organizers working in spirited connection and collaboration toward disabled liberation. thái Lu is a transdisciplinary artist, writer, and community organizer centering their practice on the social, cultural, and physical effects of chronic illness. As a chronically ill, disabled, neurodivergent, and gender-divergent first generation American from a family of Vietnamese refugees, they explore Western bio-politics and epigenetics, Southeast Asian diaspora, post-war intergenerational suffering, relational ecologies of interdependence, and the concept of metamorphosis. thái’s body is under immense stress as they continue to experience chronic infections, severe allergic reactions, and persistent fevers while facing unsustainable ongoing medical costs. They currently need to raise funds for medical bandages, new immune treatments and medications that are critical to their survival, and to maintain access to their healthcare. UPDATE 4/13: We have met our goal of 100 monthly subscriptions! We’ve capped the number of subscriptions at 100 so that our artist’s hands don’t fall off, and have stopped accepting new subscriptions through GiveButter. Thank you all so much! If you feel called to do so, we invite you to make a general donation to our main crowdfunding campaign at: givebutter.com/lets (link in bio) ❤️‍🔥 Mad Mail update! 🌀 Since we launched our mutual aid project, Mad Mail, we’ve received an overwhelming amount of contributions — 65 monthly subscriptions in just 2 days! ❤️‍🔥 Our artist is hard at work and all mail will be sent out on the first of each month. Our dream goal is to raise $1000 each month to go directly into the hands of Mad and Disabled folks. That means we’re aiming for 100 subscribers (we plan to cap this program at 100 subscriptions to ensure our artist’s hands do not fall off!) Thank you SO MUCH to everyone (all 65!! of you) that has subscribed so far — we’re 65% of the way there! 🎉 Ready to subscribe? Are you an artist looking to get involved? A note for this moment 🪻 Psychiatric survivor wisdom is not the wisdom of having been fixed. It is the wisdom of having endured a system designed to fix you into someone else’s idea of functional.
