@Projectivity is teaming up with @makerspacenyc to beautify the shipping containers in Makerpark on Front St!
The deadline to apply is Friday May 15, 2026 and artists will be notified of their selection on June 1. Murals will be painted during June/July with the opening date TBD later in the summer.
Artists apply with your idea- the theme is loosely anything to do with making / makerspace / makerpark but we are open to all ideas. You can choose a short side of a shipping container (approx 8' x 8'), or a long side (approx 8' x 20'.) Projectivity will work with artists to determine final mural locations.
I know there’s a lot of mural activity happening along the JFX right now, but I’m waiting for that to finish up.
In the meantime here are two pics of the 📍 Lafayette & Aiken Park in the Oliver neighborhood. Really nice job with the colors and the letters. 🎨 Painted by @christianpenn1 and @projectivity .
Unfortunately, while I was there, I saw lots of drug activity and zero children. (Sigh)

Lyle was an infectiously positive person. He genuinely believed everyone deserved time for their passions and he made it a point to help people in that pursuit. He showed up, as a participant, as a supporter, as a dad, as a creator, he showed up and his presence magnified the positivity in the room.
Many people don’t know Projectivity’s very first DJ workshops in 2008 were because Lyle responded to an ad on Craigslist where I offered free DJ classes. He invited us to the JCC on Manor Rd to work with some students and from there, our educational initiative was launched - setting the blueprint for the next 17 years of community engagement. He continuously pushed for us to bring hip hop and the arts to different spaces in Staten Island. He was a true motivator and supporter.
Later we connected more through @fatherhoodislit projects and @stereotypeco events. Realizing he was not just a supporter of the arts but dam fine artist himself!!! Lyle was a featured artist at our Musication series, painting live portraits of the SI arts community. His enthusiasm towards the arts and community and fatherhood is a motivating factor for me to this day.
Today we remember the kind, funny, passionate, motivational father Lyle was, and will continue to share his memory. Please consider supporting his family through the GoFundMe link.
We love you Lyle, thanks for everything. Rest in peace.
