Earlier this semester, I completed a collaboration with the Van Pelt and Opie Library to sonify data related to a whole manner of the work they do. This piece is available on the Library's YouTube channel and soon with be available on @cloudrecordings Bandcamp! "Very Pleasing Orchestration of Library [Data]" is a collaborative data sonification project between Michigan Technological University’s Library and the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. This piece was created as a pilot digital scholarship project for Love Data Week 2026, and installed with visualizations in the Library’s Opie Reading Room from February 9th to February 14th, 2026.

Definitely one of the coolest things at @knobcon this year from @megamodularcorp and friends! These 8 blank panels are an exquisite corpse that you gathered through a scavenger hunt between companies/designers/etc. Met a lot of cool people by talking to the wrong booth over and over, ha!

We were sad to learn of Richard Hunt’s passing (9/12/35 – 12/16/23) his work was pretty remarkable in so many ways. We encountered a public sculpture of his a few years back in 2019 in Charlotte, North Carolina while in residence at the @mccollcenter . We just stood around it and collected as many edges and textures with our cameras as we could. Then we compiled the video and invited our friend and sound artist Felnerii (@professorbleepbloop ) to compose a score. So its responsive to the act of enjoying someone else’s art… Then we took stills and made playable prints with them, embedding the video back into the prints. This was art for its own sake, just something we all enjoyed doing. I didn’t really do a great job releasing the the prints (GAWD you mean I need to frame that giant thing?!) We’ve shown this work in South Korea at CICA and at East Central University (and that is all, so far) and while we believe the videos stand alone, we really love it best as playable prints. But here is the video and a few prints… make sure your sound is up for the video! Thank you Mr. Hunt, for all you did to inspire so many! Spent the afternoon with a student replacing tubes in a @manleylabs Stereo Variable MU Limiter Compressor and wiring a patchbay. One of the last things I will have done at this university and I am proud to be able to leave behind some improvements, if not just cleaner studios, for the next person. Sat down to jam a little yesterday evening, which was nice. After the move, I will be getting a rack desk and relocating the BugBrand system into a set of rack ears.
