For our upcoming project with @hvshakespeare , Highland Lights, we are seeking to honor the hard working Americans who have helped shape our democracy. On the evening of July 4, 2026, as we mark 250 years of the Declaration of Independence, Assembly: A Procession of American Luminaries will pay tribute to those who have illuminated new pathways for social justice, grassroots reform, or human rights.
Their faces and stories - your stories - will come together as many points of light and converge into a single luminous serpentine puppet over the course of the procession – reframing the American Revolution, not as a nostalgic historical moment, but as an ongoing labor, a continuous Revolution, calling for open-eyed vigilance, sustained participation, and personal sacrifice.

Call for puppeteers! Would you like to perform with us Saturday, May 23rd at @innisfreegarden in Millbrook, NY? We are staging The Great Pollinator Ramble in the garden’s exquisite grounds and are looking for a few more agile and adventurous volunteers to animate the larger-than-life pollinator puppets.
These lightweight pole puppets require a steady hand, a readiness to flap off the beaten path, and an ability to be playful, yet attentive to safety.
🐝 Time commitment for volunteers is 1-5PM on May 23
🪲Physically confident adults and teens (the puppets are not heavy, but they are tall)
🦋 No experience necessary - one will be provided!

The Great Pollinator Ramble is an immersive experience that entices audience to seek out puppets of local pollinators among the gardens and paths. Guided by a habitat map and “life list” detailing 10 featured pollinator species, visitors can wander at will, learning to identify Hudson Valley bees, butterflies, beetles hidden amidst the dappled light of a garden corner, roaming a hilltop meadow, or navigating a woodland path. The Great Pollinator Ramble takes place at a different Hudson Valley site each year, and we are thrilled to be at the stunning Innisfree Garden for their Community Day celebration!
