On a rainy Saturday night at studio Processa in Ridgewood, we gathered for a sit down conversation with young conceptual artist Emmanuel Massillon. To be honest, I feel like there still so much more to unpack from this conversation. I don’t take the task of documenting the greatest Black and Brown artists of our time lightly. We put our blood sweat and tears into our work and it’s only right to shine light on all that we do. In 2023, I had the pleasure of showing Emmanuel’s works alongside legends David Hammons and Arthur Jafa in my co-curated exhibition “Not For Sale” at NXTHVN. This conversation was a full circle moment. Thank you Emmanuel for being a part of this and thank you to the community that came through to the studio to see this talk live. S2 EPISODE 5 of Processa Talks with conceptual artist @massi____ is now live on YouTube and all podcast platforms. Click the link in our bio to watch the full episode 💎
You’re invited to Processa Social Club — a series of intimate gatherings at Studio Processa, for artists, by artists.
For our first happening, we are honored to host a salon-style sit-down conversation with conceptual artist Emmanuel Massillon, moderated by Kiara Cristina Ventura. This special gathering will also be a live recording of the Processa Talks podcast.
Massillon’s multidisciplinary practice spans painting, performance, sculpture, sound, and installation. Drawing on his upbringing in Washington D.C.’s inner city, he interrogates race, identity, and culture—particularly within the African diaspora—through symbolic gestures and charged materiality. In conversation, we’ll explore Massillon’s evolving practice, the politics of materials, and how art can hold both beauty and critique.
After the talk, please stay for a drink, a heated game of UNO, or a round of dominoes.
If you feel called to join us, please click the link in our bio and RSVP in advance—capacity is limited. Thank you.
Processa Talks: Hidden Paintings within Found Furniture: Revealing home[body] with Kiarita (S2-EP.4) Now live on YouTube & podcast platforms 💎
In this special episode, we sit down with multidisciplinary artist Kiarita @sacralrise within their debut solo exhibition home[body] at Hausen in Brooklyn to explore the delicate architecture of intimacy and queer eroticism.
Season 2 Epsiode 4 of Processa Talks featuring artist kiarita @sacralrise 〰️ is now live on YouTube and all Podcast platforms 💎 link in bio.
Born in Hackensack, NJ (1999) and based in Brooklyn, Kiarita is a Dominican artist working across painting and sculpture. In home[body] at @welcometohausen —curated by @usen_esiet (March 6 – August 31, 2025)—their “queering of the antique” and lush, tactile painting technique reveal sensuous moments within the found furniture. Inspired by Audre Lorde’s “Uses of the Erotic, The Erotic as Power,” the exhibition embraces eroticism “as a resource within each of us,” using intimacy and rest as tools of resistance. Kiarita holds a BFA in Visual & Critical Studies from SVA and is currently a Bronx AIM and New York Van Lier Trust Fellow. Their work has been honored by Rema Hort Mann Foundation and the Sylvia Lipson Allen Memorial Fund.

Proud to continue season two of Processa Talks — now filmed in person ⭐️ I started this series on Zoom during 2020 and I’ve always imagined it in person taking the form of a sit down talk show.
These episodes are shot and edited by me, and each one takes place either within Studio Processa or within the artist’s exhibition or studio — creating space for grounded, intimate dialogue.
It feels full-circle to merge my NYU degree in Art History and Broadcast Journalism into this evolving project.
Processa Talks is where I slow down and dive deep into the practices of artists I admire — especially Black and Brown artists whose work deserves layered, thoughtful attention. I want to expand the ways our work is talked about. Let’s laugh. Let’s cry. Let’s talk about our ancestors. Let’s talk about what is and isn’t working. Let’s document our stories.
The art world needs this. And we’re just getting started.
