Hello, Primates! The podcast is on spring break, but we have on offer two fresh sets of rainbow foil stickers from the mad scientists @stickerobot - a run of 100 of each foil - only $2 a pop for the 2x3 OG Cheese design on foil or the shiny 3" circle logo. I'll throw in some of the "soda" design for a buck. $5 for three stickers? Wowzers!
Comment here or DM me, and we'll work out the details.
As always, sticker sale proceeds go to the server fund to keep the podcast free forever.
Primus had graced us with new tracks! They are a part of the forthcoming release A Handful of Nuggs, including original song The Ol' Grizz and a cover of Holy Diver with Puddles. Time for some repeated listens on Youtube or Apple Music or whatevs until we learn details about a physical release or permanent download!
Drop your Grizz thoughts here!

The Colonel once again graces the cover of @bassmagazineonline and discusses his numerous current projects, including a new Primus track in the can titled The Ol' Griz. Will the pasta stick to the wall? Go read the article to find out!

Bubbles Burst is the penultimate track to The Monolith of Phobos and reveals the odd experiences Sean Lennon had with Michael Jackson's pet chimpanzee, Bubbles. This was the only track on the record to get the full music video treatment, starring Noel and Mike Fielding, and there's also a demo version of the song on the Japanese release.
Lots to talk about here beyond the psychological makeup of a deranged millionaire celebrity. Frankie has chimp facts!

Did you know?*
The Canadian cassette of Tales From the Punchbowl contains a hidden gem: the alternate or working title of Over The Electric Grapevine. Frizzle Bob is a fitting title, as the song's lyrics tell a story of an LSD-drenched road trip (think Frizzle Fry) with none other than Adam Gates, aka Bob Cock. We are not sure why the Canadian cassettes were gifted this alternate title; it could merely have been a production oversight. Whatever the case, it makes for a fun bit of Primus lore and makes this edition a collector's item.
*if you did know, please obnoxiously boast in the comments.

Did you drink the PsillyPop?
I've given the new #cld album a couple listens and am still gathering my thoughts. The excellent comic by @richragsdale really brings to life the narrative elements in such a pleasing manner.
What's your take on the album, Primates?

We might spend the rest of human existence trying to decode the mysteries of a Larry LaLonde guitar solo.
From our Glass Sandwich episode with @jonny_lespecial and @timsoya published March 1, 2021.
The latest episodes of Primus Tracks are steeped in CLD Fever!
Captain Lariat provides us a pseudo sea shanty that first-time guest Jeff Roscher of @roguevalleybluebirds finds palatable because it's not a full blown sailor's song, and he begrudgingly likes the subject of the tune, even after learning the recreational uses of amyl nitrites.
Ohmerica, named for the Ohtalian explorer Ohmerigo Vespohcci, is the eighth track frohm Mohnohlith of Phohbohs, and a sneaky good one at that! Sam Stewart of @flagmanband joins the podcast once again to espouse its merits and question my favorite unconventional food combinations.

CALLING ALL PRIMATES!!
Got any old-school PRIMUS flyers hiding somewhere in your world?
@zoltron@primustracks and @purplepachydermwines are digging deep for high-quality scans or photos of original Primus flyers and handbills from (roughly) 1984–1993 for a mysterious, top secret project.
We’re talking those ancient, ephemeral paper relics from a bygone era. DIY. Telephone pole blight. Rusted staples. Xerox fuzz. Tiny venues. Delinquent decisions.
If you’ve got one:
• Stuffed in a shoebox
• Hanging in your mancave
• Glued in grandma’s diary
• Duct taped to your wall like it was Berkeley Square in 1987
Time to unearth it.
What we need:
• High-quality scans or photos
• Straight, well-lit, no angles
• Your chosen name for credit
Send to: [email protected]
Or DM @primustracks
If we use your flyer, you will be credited. Spread the word. Share this. Be the flyer.
As always, a list of non-participants shall later be posted for public ridicule.
Love,
Primus Tracks, Zoltron, and Claypool Cellars 🖤
"Amway again?!"
This week on the pod, we welcome the mighty @thebretcrowshow to talk about CLD's Breath of a Salesman, a straightforward tune about those buddy-buddy types who try to tell you something, or simply an annoying hanger-on. Somehow, Frankie connects this track with a Tales From The Crypt episode, and as a result we all invest heavily in Cutco knives.

Over the last six months, Josh reached out to many of his favorite guests about the possibility of recording some Primus covers for a compilation release. After numerous conversations, some cancellations, and a modicum of consternation, Primus Tracks will soon publish Bastardized: A Primus Tracks Companion on digital and a small run of reasonably-priced vinyl. Ten tracks, ten Primate's takes on Primus (Kello just HAD to do a Sausage song) that range from faithful cover to creative interpretation. So excited to share these recordings with you. All proceeds will go to the artists! More info to come.

We've recently discussed Mr. Wright and Boomerang Baby on the podcast with our pals @kellogc and @blu_moa respectively. Peeping pervs and smartphone addiction certainly seem like wheelhouse stuff for this duo.
Where do you place these tunes in the burgeoning CLD catalog?
