Jun 13, 3:15 pm: Pride Marfa & Marfa Book Co present an afternoon with Joy Episalla and Carrie Yamaoka. Yamaoka will present RE: CARRIE YAMAOKA, a beautiful survey publication that features essays, correspondence, and a history of exhibitions, forthcoming from radius books. Episalla will present a new film “As long as there’s you, As long as there’s me” (2023), composed of moments of non-performance/performance filmed by Episalla over the last 18 years. In addition to their individual art practices, Episalla and Yamaoka are founding members, with Zoe Leonard and Nancy Brooks Brody (1962-2023), of the queer art collective, fierce pussy. Formed in New York City in 1991 through their immersion in AIDS activism and political mobilization around LGBTQ+ rights, fierce pussy uses low tech, low budget forms of community action to bring queer identity and visibility to the streets. They continue to work together today. Short conversations will follow each presentation.

The Performing Sewer Rat of El Paso is so excited to make Their return to Pride Marfa! 🌟@circethevvitch Circe is a dweller of the night who rarely leaves her spidery witch lair, but when she does expect to meet her seductive gaze & witness her femme fatale high-antics! 🌟 @fish_the_clown FiSh the CLOWN is a queer Latinx-Indigenous visual artist and Drag Monster. Born in Belen, New Mexico and raised in Ysleta, Texas. They are a part of the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo. FiSh is known for his avant-garde and over the top looks that blur the lines between spooky and glamour. FiSh the CLOWN’s work was on display for DRAG CLOWN AFFAIRS in Paris, France from March 2024 to July 2024 🌟 @salempurchase Salem Purchase is the “Border City Diva” from El Paso, Texas, born and raised, now lighting up the scene in Austin. A transgender performer and drag queen artist extraordinaire, Salem commands the stage with a high-fashion, bold aesthetic. Statuesque, talented, and undeniably beautiful, Salem blends fierce energy and an unforgettable presence, making every performance a must-see! 🌟 @stephaniaelegonza Stephania is a trans performer, artist and model. She loves to create and support art, and make her audience happy during her performances. 🌟 @zmcguire2307 Vesper is a trans drag performer and a member of the Haus of Stefani. In 2023, she helped to bring to life Roswell, New Mexico’s first ever Pride and will be running for Miss New Mexico Pride in 2026. Vesper was raised in Marfa and currently lives in Roswell.
