I am excited to offer this performance workshop through DPL. After touring for over a decade, competing on at least 5 slam teams (some visiting final stage) and 10 years coaching a youth slam team, what I learned is PERFORMANCE MATTERS!!!!
Bringing your words to life is just as powerful as the writing, but more importantly sounding like YOU is what separates you from the rest. Too often, poets sound like the poet that went before them. When it comes to building a career in this art form or even just presenting your work for the love of it, being memorable is the golden ticket!!!

2016 - my 33rd year- (and yes my birthday hat says “33 like Jesus” lol) was the best year of my lifeto date. That year my non-profit was doing amazing. I had more shows booked than I could handle. I was in a solid relationship. My daughter and I were traveling. I felt unstoppable … until it all crashed.
2026 - I am booking shows again. My daughter is in college. I’m in college. I’m still teaching. I have ambition again. I have the capacity to love again. I feel like I’m standing on solid ground … and building upward.
This month I’m celebrating my dear friend’s @stayonthemic bday with tons of laughter, joy and a shit ton of poems!!!!! Where you at Modesto!!!! Join us at SLAM ON RYE Jan 28.

My daughter turned 21. It is such an odd and amazing moment for your child to become a full grown adult. She has become such an incredible young woman. Thoughtful, curious, determined, brilliant, creative and powerful. I can not be more proud of her. Happy Birthday my darling daughter. 💜💜💜💜
