Last weekend I did my first half marathon for May the Fourth be with You!!!! Was it perfect? Absolutely not. But I did it! A few short years ago with my Long Covid I was unable to walk up the street without getting winded let alone run any kind of race. And now? I have my first half marathon under my belt. A massive bonus of the day? I was with some of the best and most supportive people I have ever met. Special shoutout to Casey for getting FIRST PLACE in the women’s category. Kris and Thomas for placing high in their category. And Andrew for completing his first half marathon too!!! What a special day. I am sore but so proud of myself and my friends. I can’t wait to do it again. Happy Star Wars Day, everyone! May the Force be with you (today, a week later and every day!) 🩷✨

27 years ago, I’ll never forget. My life was forever changed that day. I lost a friend and watched my city and many people I know and love grieve for the loss of their friends. My heart and prayers go out to the families of those who were lost that day. It saddens me that this was only the beginning of the school shooting epidemic. It feels extra rough posting this today because we’ve had two shootings in the last 48 and hundreds in just 4 months of 2026. They barely make the news anymore. It’s fucking maddening. I know everything is unstable and scary right now but life is so short. I try to remember that and honor my friend who was killed way too young that day by doing so. So tell the people you love, that you love them. Be kind to a stranger. We’re in this together. I know it’s infuriating that there are SEVERAL ways to prevent these shootings and I know many of us, like myself, feel so helpless in that area. The only thing I can control today is being kind and showing compassion. I know I share this or something like this every year, and I probably won’t stop. Remembering those we have lost by talking about them somehow keeps them alive in our hearts. And now, like I do every year, I will get drunk on M&M’s and listen to The Cranberries to honor my friend Cassie. Take care of each other out there and just be kind, you never know what people are going through. 💙🙏🏼
