Introducing Typeople, an experiment by the font scientists at @pretendfoundry in collaboration with the creative people here at Fuzzco (it’s the same people, but don’t tell anyone).
It started by asking a simple, possibly dumb, question: “Can a font be people?”
The creative minds got to work, and invented a rule-breaking method for constructing people using a type-able format.

Toodleoo!
🇮🇹Vi presentiamo Valori 🇮🇹 A new slanted blocky display typeface with opposing top and bottom heavy cuts.
Valori is inspired by a simple sign spotted inside of a bar and corner store in Florence, Italy that reads “Tabacchi Valori Bollati.” It refers to an Italian system of selling tobacco products with a tax stamp (bollo) that indicates that the appropriate taxes have been paid.
Using the few characters included on the sign as a jumping off point, we built out the rest of the capitals, and then expanded to include lowercase as well as two different cuts, Alto and Basso, that shift the weight of the characters from the top to the bottom.

Blocky and ornate, Monolita is inspired in part by ancient Mesoamerican stone structures as well as Mexican advertising of the mid-20th Century. It wants to be big, bold and dramatic, like a pyramid rising above the surrounding jungle. Check the link in our bio to learn more and pick it up for yourself.
✨Introducing Monolita✨
Inspired by ancient Mayan and Aztec architecture, statues, pyramids, and 1930s typography and advertising from Mexican publications, Monolita is equally comfortable being used as a bold and blocky display font or as abstract building blocks for patterns and graphics.

ANNOUNCING PLUFF!
A puffy, unconventional font named after coastal pluff mud. Fluffy, smelly, it lines the edges of our salt marshes, providing a nutrient rich primordial ooze for all manner of life to thrive in. This gloppy creature of a font features nooks and crannies with irregular shapes and comes in two styles, sharp and soft.
Introducing FLORA, whose floral forms were inspired by plants found on a spring walk in Charleston. This symbol font includes 26 characters in three weights. Each character is informed by a unique plant, juxtaposing organic and geometric forms to create usable and iconic shapes. The hierarchy of the three weights is expressed in the application of fills and strokes. Consider these glyphs nature's emojis.
We documented the plants on a black velvet background, shooting through a suspended magnifying glass with strong directional light to put the focus on each flower’s natural colors, shapes and textures. The magnifying glass creates an interesting sense of scale and at times the lens warps the image, creating beautiful fields of color.
The website leverages WebGL and custom shaders – lending intriguing effects to the overall visually compelling experience you’ll find on each page. 🌺
With 14 styles licensed for both desktop and web usage, Collection 2 is a great budget option for all of the font hoarders and experimenters out there 👽🗂
To commemorate the end of 2020, we’re releasing a second #PretendFonts collection with four fonts and 14 unique styles from this year, licensed for desktop and web at just $100. We wish everyone magic and fresh air in the new year 💫
