Today, Atlanta and the world lost not just a legend but a truly remarkable human being. Many knew as the visionary founder of CNN and a trailblazering man committed to protecting our planet. But Atlanta knew him simply as a kind, genuine soul whose presence left an impact far beyond his accomplishments.
His legacy will live on forever.
This has always been my favorite photo of us because I remember the pep talk he gave me that day. I was in my late 20s and so nervous about speaking, and he spoke with such warmth, wisdom, and encouragement. Moments like that stay with you for life.
He was truly a great man. ❤️

I had an incredible time celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the National Black Arts Festival Fine Art + Fashion presented by NeimanMarcus, an unforgettable evening for an even greater cause.
Congratulations to NBAF on two decades of elevating art, fashion, culture, and the next generation of creative excellence.
This year’s celebration honored the incomparable recipient of the Cultural Icon Award, Lynn Whitfield, alongside visionary creatives Jeremy Haynes and Michi Meko for their extraordinary impact and influence.
The evening featured stunning student artwork from NBAF’s NextGen program, live music, an elegant runway presentation, and a beautiful reminder of the power of investing in young creatives.
Most importantly, proceeds from the evening support NBAF’s year round arts education initiatives for underserved youth of African descent, while scholarships from the Fashion Forward Student Design Competition and NextGen Visionary Artist Competition continue creating opportunities for the next generation of artists and designers.
A truly beautiful night of purpose, creativity, fashion, and culture.
