~ THATS THAT ~
The final run of Pressed Town. The last exhibition. For now... All ends are new beginnings.
A shoutout to everyone who has supported, submitted and read out their work. You've been wonderful and dare I say, even part of a little community for a while. Much love to you all.
As well as a shoutout and thank you to SHOP, for providing a space for launch parties and exhibitions throughout the two years. A thank you to Paul (Shout out Paul) from PWD Creative Solutions for smooth lining the printing process and helping me with formatting things. And lastly but certainly not least, a shout out and thank you to Peter Doyle Bookbinder for helping me with, not one but two massive hand bound exhibition books. As well as letting me be a part of that process.
Now, what's next?

That's it. Done. Over. All Ends are New Beginnings. To be continued...
Pressed Town is a local zine. For local people. By local people. Giving the opportunity to local artists to say something about Preston for 2 years. We've done our best to be a platform, but now its time to step aside and grant the space to someone else.
This was an awesome project to run but personally, I'd like to leave it as that. A project that I'd never expected to take off as it did. An ADHD moment of inspiration in January 2024 has turned into (what will be): 9 call outs; 9 issues; putting nearly 150 Preston artists into print; (50 x 9) = 450 copies printed; £500 raised for the mutual aid organisation Reviving Gaza; exhibitions, fire circles, parties and a whole lot of learning. Now to put this one down for the time being.
All Ends Are New Beginings.
Do you have a story, a painting, a photo, a sculpture, an experience, a film, an event, a group, a doodle, a thought, a song to sing about? Anything that we can print we would like to help you share! As this is the last issue, if you had something for a previous issue that you never sent in send it now! Or if you ever put it off before for whatever reason here's your chance. There's no judging criteria. You send it. We print it (within reason, dont be a dick).
Each issue of Pressed Town is split into two sections, for Issue 9 it is Ends and Beginings.
Deadline for submissions is 13th March with Publishing aiming to be ready for the Spring Equinox on the 21st.
On the 27th - 29th The Launch Party will also coincide with the Annual Exhibition. A collection of the years previous zines, enlarged to A3 and turned into a ginormous hand-bound book.
If you want to submit work, check the info below. If you'd like to get yourself a copy you can either subscribe or buy one directly from us.

See you there!
Pressed Town, A local zine, for local people, by local people.
Pressed Town is a seasonal zine that prints 4 issues a year based on life in Preston. What's good and what's shit. It was spurred on by @JustJonnyThings having an inspired ADHD moment of "Wouldn't it be good if..." and, as they say, the rest is history. The idea behind Pressed Town is to be a platform to represent a variety of voices and attitudes about life in Preston, prompted by seasonally related themes. For this latest issue...
Preston is our home and it's getting bloody cold.
This issue will mark our eighth issue (VOL VIII), 8 seasons and therefore TWO YEARS doing Pressed Town. As always the gratitude goes our to our supporters. Everyone who has engaged, subscribed, sent in work, shown up to events and bought copies have kept this little thing going and let it grow. We started off with natural themes of Growth and Decay followed by Bloom and Rot and here we are, we've grown and we've bloomin' bloomed.
Our last issue was 'Poetry for Palestine' and was to raise money for the mutual aid organisation, @Reving.gaza We will be continuing to sell the copies for this and raising money until every single copy is sold. 100% of proceeds for Issue 7 go to Reviving Gaza. Although media reports may have subsided, the occupation continues and Pressed Town stands in solidarity of the oppressed people there.
To check out what the themes are, what to submit and how, please check our other call out posts on our grid.
Thank you for being here.
With love and solidarity,
- Pressed Town
Each issue has two themes, inspired by the season, to give choice of emotion.
For this Eighth (Winter) issue, we are collaborating with the Preston branch of the tenants union @AcornPreston to raise awareness that support and legal representation is available for tenants struggling with their landlords. Homelessness is severe issue during the winter months hence the themes 'Cold' and 'Home'. Hopefully through this collaboration, someone who needs support may find it or if nobody needs the support currently then at least we can raise awareness that its there.
The difference between these themes give you a chance to offer your thoughts and feelings around this time of year. Does winter make you reflect on the withdrawing of life from the bitterness outdoors, or do you in fact reflect upon the coziness and gratitude to come inside?
'Home' might mean something different for everyone. Does the word inspire something in you during the winter months? Maybe you don't get a positive notion from this at all. Tell us about it. Share a message. Share a visual. You never know who might relate or be inspired.
'Cold' again might mean something different to you than it does another. Does cold make you withdraw or are you the type of person to embrace the chill. There's certainly a danger in cold, but there's also a lot of emotional associations with the word. Share your thoughts and feelings on this if it inspires you to do so.
- Pressed Town
We are a local zine. For local people. By local people. Pressed Town gives the opportunity to local artists to say something about Preston. What's going on, what's you're up to and any thoughts you'd like to share. This platform aims to give a voice to the people of Preston.
Do you have a story, a painting, a photo, a sculpture, an experience, a film, an event, a group, a doodle, a thought, a song to sing about? Anything that we can print we would like to help you share! If it's not something easily printable then we can discuss how to incorporate it into the issue using a QR code, AR, holographs some of that future AI woo woo... Woo?!
Each issue of Pressed Town is split into two sections, please see the next post for the themes of Issue VIII.

Today, the names of 20,000 Palestinian children who have been killed since October 7th will be read out in Preston town centre.
Please show up to support them and don't allow the local zionists to disrespect those who have lost their lives.
Pressed Town is still raising money for @reviving.gaza
So will have copies today and be in town for the reading of the names.
We will be raising money with this issue until EVERY SINGLE COPY has gone. That's 100% of the proceeds being donated. We're now at £425 raised and thanks to the donations as well as sales we know we will go over the £500 goal.
From the river to the sea. Palestine will be free.
#FreePalestine #SaveTheChildren
