Here we go..😏 📌 “I said LEFT” Apparently there are now 14 different types of left đŸ˜« 📌 “Can you grab the rope?” Which rope? There are 94 ropes and all of them look unemployed. 📌 “YOU’RE TOO CLOSE!!” To the dock? The catamaran? Financial ruin? A screaming Italian skipper? At this point nobody really knows anymore. 📌 The dinghy ride back after a docking argument. Pure silence. Just small waves and resentment.🌊 📌 One steering. One giving directions like an air traffic controller during a crisis. 📌 “Can you just push us off?” Ah yes. Let me stop 8 tons of moving boat with my flip flop and lower back.đŸ©Ž 📌 “Can you grab the line?” And somehow within seconds: the rope is in the water, the boat is sideways, nobody is speaking normally anymore, and a German man on a catamaran is quietly watching your relationship collapse. 📌 Fighting over weather forecasts like two conspiracy theorists. “Windy says 12 knots.” “Well PredictWind says 19.” “Well ICON says we’re basically dead.” Meanwhile outside: literally a butterfly passing by. 📌 “WHY is everything WET.” Because we live in a floating salad bowl surrounded by water Deborah. 📌 The person on the helm asking for one simple thing. The other somehow disappearing completely during the most stressful 45 seconds of the day. 📌 “Why are you stressed?” Because we’re parking a floating apartment in sideways wind Karen. 📌 Silent treatment immediately after docking. Nothing says romance like avoiding eye contact for 45 minutes.😏 📌 “FENDERRRRR!” Every sailing couple eventually communicates like angry seagulls🩅 📌 “You never listen” Correct. The wind is louder than your emotional feedback. So tell us
 What’s the most ridiculous argument you’ve ever had on a boat? 👀 #sailingfun #boatinglife⚓ #sailing #sailinglife⛔

The biggest stressor to me as a captain is making a decision on the safety of the weather 12 hours in advance of departure. The safety of my passengers is my #1 priority. Last night there was really only a hint of this system coming through. I’m sure glad I was paying attention. I cancelled today’s charters. And it was clear at 6:30 am that it was unsafe to go out on the water. No one is impervious to lightening. I don’t care how good your electronics are. @predictwind @pivotalweather #predeparture #checklist #safteyfirst #sms How many captains does it take to check the weather?

The clock is ticking: our visas are running out, and honestly, we’re tired of being cold
Next stop: Fiji đŸïž We’ve been watching the weather, waiting for a good window to make the 7 to 10 day trip. We’re eager to get going, but after a rushed and pretty miserable passage from Tonga last year, we’re determined to be patient this time. So far, nothing has looked appealing, but we’ve started provisioning so we’re ready to move when the right opportunity comes up. #passageplanning #provision #liveaboard #boatlife #sailing
