Alrighty lads, being today is Cinco de Mayo it felt fitting to give you a recap of the latest episode of “Fish Food for Drum Machines!” This month the focus was strictly on Latin music, and I played some of the dopest Latin records in my collection (I’m biased but they’re so GOOD!!), which were followed up by an absolutely INSANE set by the DOPE Ecuadorian DJ @mariamorenaec !! Today (3/6) is Bandcamp Friday where Bandcamp waives their share of the revenue to give more to the artists, and I recently dropped a beat tape entitled “Another Night at the Lonely Hearts Club” which is available for free download or for “pay what you want” if you’d like! Furthermore I’m excited to announce a new monthly radio show I will be hosting on @hnt.fm this Saturday evening entitled “Fish Food for Drum Machines” where I will be playing some of the dopest records (& I mean actual vinyl records) that’ll inspire you to start chopping! Alrighty lads, on this Christmas Day I have something I’m very excited to share with you! A while back I had made a submission for @missile_aey “Missile Beat Launch” sample flip challenge, and for this specific volume she had picked a CLASSIC sample that is the basis for one of my favorite CHH tracks, ergo I felt I had to challenge myself to make something so different that you couldn’t tell I used the same sample. While I didn’t win the challenge, what I made sounded so unique to me & I liked it so much that I decided I wanted to make a proper song with it! Alongside my verse (yes I’m rapping on this one lads!), I was blessed to be able to get @slimcarrey_ & Onry (whom I can’t tag in this post, but MAJOR SALUTE TO HIM & OLDOMINION) to rhyme alongside me - they are two amazing artists that absolutely destroyed their verses on this song, and I’m very thankful they jumped on this track with me! The engineering was handled by Nothing_neue, and the artwork was painted (yes - PAINTED) by @izkart (the Precursor Mentality logo was created by @bg.queen_ ) and it came out SUPER DOPE! DJ MISSILE happened to be streaming last night as well when I posted the song to Bandcamp, so I quickly sent her the track and she was gracious enough to play it on her livestream! (That livestream is where this footage came from!) MAJOR SALUTE TO DJ MISSILE STRAIGHT OUT OF THAILAND!!! Alrighty lads, today is the first of my three beat sets that I’ve been blessed to have lined up for May! This evening @the6hookahlounge @jerseyproduce is hosting another DOPE producer showcase! I’m hyped for this one as they’ll also be featuring a lot of producers that have yet to play at Jersey Produce, but I’ve heard their music and they are dope too! They also have an open aux for anyone looking to play their beats at the start! Pull up if you’re in the area! ($5 entry fee) Later this month on 5/23, I’ll be in Northampton, MA to play some beats in support of @magnogarcia latest album alongside some of the DOPEST producers in that area! (Many thanks to @andycolonpresents & @delisiomusic.leaks for getting me on that lineup!) And then the day after that (5/24) I’ll be back in Brooklyn for a night of b2b beat sets via @officialqstv @filthydiamondbk right before Memorial Day!! There’s a lot of good things in the works & God willing it’ll all be dope!! Alrighty lads, here we have my submission for @missile_aey “Missile Beat Launch Vol. 35” which I’ve used to make a bootleg remix of the CLASSIC @ill_papa_ song “Texas Hold ‘Em (feat New Breed & @itriune )” - this song got a LOT of rotation when I first heard it and it’s one of my favorite @tunnelratsmusic affiliated tracks to this day! (SALUTE THE TUNNEL RATS!!!) Everyone that submitted to MBL this round also brought the heat! There is a recap on DJ MISSILE’s page that is well worth checking out, & many thanks to her for once again hosting “Missile Beat Launch” and giving producers an opportunity to be heard on her livestream! Def tap in with her lads! I’m also pleased to announce the next round of beat sets that I have coming up! This upcoming Sunday (5/17) I’ll be back with the good folks @jerseyproduce @the6hookahlounge to play beats with an INCREDIBLE lineup spanning NJ & NY! It’s always a pleasure to rock with them, and I’ll be incorporating some new material into my set so you’re not gonna want to miss this one! And not only that, but I’m very excited to let you know that @mariamorenaec will also be coming to the show for a special guest set! Originally hailing from Ecuador, she has been packing out dance floors in NY & has killed it every time I’ve gotten to see her spin, and I’m very excited to hear her set this Sunday! She definitely needs to be on your radar if she isn’t already, her sets are very much worth going to see and hear live! To demonstrate that you can flip the songs that I will be selecting for the show, I’ve provided an example in the form of a bootleg remix of the Grayskul (Onry & @ninjaneer101 ) & @makerbeats song “We Android” off of their Graymaker album, which is one of my favorites from that album (though the whole album is excellent)! Here we have my most recent “Missile Beat Launch” submission (hosted by @missile_aey - many thanks again & SALUTE for all you do!!) which I’ve entitled “String Me Along” - I had a chance to catch the livestream when the voting was taking place and while I didn’t win, I’m happy that my submission actually sounded quite unique compared to the other producers, so I’m happy about that! Big shout out & salute to all the other producers too, this is the first time I can recall there being a tie in the voting resulting in two winners! (She also has a block party coming up @davillains_bp - hit her up for more information about that!) I’m very excited to let you know that tomorrow (4/16) I will be playing beats as a part of @thecainmarko Rap Party @newarkcultureclub alongside @slimcarrey_ & @d3signer.dr3ams ! It is undeniable that the MPC Sample has taken the producer community (mainly hip-hop producers) by STORM (& I’m not hating on it, if it inspires people to create that’s all that matters! Alrighty lads, today I received a LOT of advice as well as a roadmap from @stothelast during a four hour call (thank you again for all your input, feedback and direction!!) and one task he gave me was to update my Bandcamp page, from tightening up the mini bio to updating the info on the releases.
