Presentations will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 9:30-11:50am and the following week, May 12, 9:30am-12:30pm. There will be a closing reception on May 12, 12:00-2:00pm.
This event is open to the public, and will be held in the Nancy Ross Project Space. RSVP NOW using the QR code!
Curating Learning showcases the work of Art and Design Education seniors at the culmination of the program as they curate their experiences as artists, cultural producers, and learners. The research projects and related artworks created emphasize student interdisciplinary connections and reflections on how knowledge is constructed and facilitated through teaching, learning, and curating. Students integrate theory and practice through reflection and research in the field of art and design education. Students develop their voices as emerging professionals as they synthesize their learning in studio, liberal arts, art and design education, and pre-service teaching as well as co-curricular experiences in both formal and informal settings. Working across media and informed by their own research interests, they create projects that ultimately highlight their perspective on integrating their learning across the studio, classroom, and community.

Join us on May 2nd, 11:00AM-12:00PM, to observe the work student-teachers have produced with children in ADE-406 Saturday Art School II. Find the RSVP Link in our Bio! This event is ONLY open to friends and family of participating children, prospective graduate students, and Pratt Foundation/first-year students.
Open Studios in the Saturday Art School showcases the teaching of seniors and graduate students in the culminating clinical experience: Teaching in the Saturday Art School. Students integrate theory and practice through developing and teaching a 10-week K-12 lesson sequence in visual arts. It also offers an opportunity for student-teachers to learn how to interact with children's parents and guardians in a public event to celebrate the creative achievements of children and to learn how to conceptualize and realize their curriculum by producing professional materials that can be applied to their future careers in art and design education.

Absolutely STUNNED by this mural, brought to life by students from John Ericson M.S. 126, Muralist Hana Martinez (pictured on left), and BFA/MA 5th year Kai Gatlin (pictured on right)! 🎨✨
The mural was created over the course of the spring semester in collaboration with El Puente and funded by the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) grant awarded by Lincoln Restler. Centered on the defense of public spaces, the work reflects student voices, creativity, and a shared commitment to community.

The ADE Department is hosting an info session for the Graduate Advanced Certificate in Teaching and Learning (ACTL) a week from today, March 23rd 4-5pm! Scan the QR to RSVP or click the link in our bio.
Through the 9-credit ACTL, students are exposed to, and engage in, a range of pedagogical approaches and learning modalities that intersect with art and design. Students take a required introductory course, Teaching Art and Design in Museums, Communities, and Colleges (3 credits), followed by two courses (6 credits) appropriate to their interests or chosen pathway from among the following: museum education, community education, and college teaching. The pathway in community is divided into two sub-pathways, one focusing on community projects and social change and one on education for youth in informal settings such as nonprofit and community-based organizations. All graduate students in MFA/MS/MA/MArch/MLA programs at Pratt can take the certificate.
