I know these might just look like stairs, a staircase, a flight of stairs, but really they represent something more than that, a statement of intent, a determination to care about things and try and make them better than they could be, a decision to not give up, to continue to strive. they are also a lot less likely to fall apart or catch on fire than the last ones admittedly - so they can be applauded for those qualities alone. We could have got some simpler stairs that did the job just as well but these ones allow for a moment’s pause at the top, a quality thought as Nigel might say, and a chance to sit down and enjoy a sunny morning. So to us these aren’t just a set of stairs, more a chance to look forward to the future with hope and optimism clouding our eyes. phase xyz… nicknamed the Chapel and a couple of years in the dreaming up and making and hiding a comedy of different angles (don’t look too close) the new room is nearly ready. I just need to get an old east-end upright piano once owned by my grandparents and abused by hundreds of roll-out-the-barrow performances from Bristol to Margate (any one want to help?) and up onto the first floor (anyone want to help?) and we will be ready for action… I think it’s gonna be a sweet spot. it needs a large rug (anyone want to help?) and maybe a little sanding. we can worry about the interior design later (@banjo.beale want to help?) for now it stays a riot of bare wood… might need a sofa or two as well (you get the drift)… Big ups Nigel as per ❤️

at last a real live piano!

Tickets are live for our next TRC Dance on Saturday 19th of April! Link in bio (don’t sleep?) As genre defying,and eclectic as ever, we’ll be kicking things off with live show from the wicked duo @uhlivve ahead of their new EP coming out on Prah Recordings . Also making his TRC debut is selector extraordinaire @joeymanzii from the Elevation crew ✨ Sound system courtesy of the lovely people at @audiogold .👌 As usual I’ll be setting up the space with some wicked lights picked up from @insightlighting , and I’ll play some sonic gems too, because sharing my tunes with you makes me happy . About the artists : uh is the brother/sister duo of Dominic and Fionnuala Kennedy. uh united bedroom-burbling hardware jams, video-graphic performance art & spoken word. It wasn’t long before uh would find a footing in the London DIY scene. Fionnuala exploits a pitch module, echo, and live looping unit, producing freq-pranged monologues and cantos; Dominic wrenches the knobs on various Rolands, Doepfers and sequencers, causing juddering glitches in the system. Joey Manzi is a broadcaster and DJ based in West London, half of the club night/ radio show Elevation, the man is highly versed musically in sounds within the soulful space. From jazz, soul and hip hop to Chicago House, Brazilian funk and broken beats, be prepared to go on a soulful journey with plenty of highs and music for movement.  As usual, the lovely people from Audio Gold our in charge of the speaker system, and it is DELICIOUS . Go pay them a visit in their incredible vintage hifi / record shop in Crouch End if you’re around! .

phase 273… new studio space coming… its a long and winding road but we are slowly making these spaces into places… maybe we are overdue a little party of some sort…

Look, we are trying to write some kind of caption for the things that have happened this weekend but it’s too hard. We just find it amazing when your chipping away in a small village with slugs for weeks and weeks on a special something or your spurring on raunchy barndance dialect in a quiet room or your sweating and sewing and listening to Barry white and nothing else for 5 weeks and then you have these invitations to bring all these frantic interlinked activities to an incredibly massive stage at a festival that knows its Welsh and knows it loves guitars and lifely romantic outpourings and your asked to bring your thing and you obviously say yes but don’t think it through in a big way, not to say your not utterly shocked and excited by the invite, it’s just you don’t really think about what your about to expose and then in this special case you arrive at the festival and in the most frantic way you tunnel vision your way onto the stage and your met by a sea of incredible faces and it spurs you on to rock out in such a big way and you realise your doing a mermaid chunky show and it makes everything make so much sense!!!!!!! @greenmanfest !!! The amount of love we got for this show over the weekend brought us literally to tears. Thank you so so much. We also had soooooo much fun at our Dj set on Saturday too. Can’t believe we pulled that off. Was addictive to slif and slaf with you in so much sweat.
