It was a moving and consolidating last two days of Postmarginal Edmonton last week. Passing through workshops with Queer tango, Deaf-centric creation, multiple languages, somatics, culturally-conscious casting and ethical rehearsal practices, among others--we closed off the circle with a fabulous Playback Theatre synthesis by Thirdspace Playback Theatre Edmonton. We covered a lot of ground during our four days, and set the stage for the next events in Edmonton (to come sooner rather than later, let's go!). Thanks to everyone who produced, participated, supported, facilitated or appreciated this work. Thanks to @ualberta@MacEwan@azimuth_theatre@edmontoncommunityfoundation@yegarts@canada.council for helping to make this happen!

Eclectic Day Two at Postmarginal Edmonton. We spent the morning reinventing the world a bit with new approaches to equitable and caring institutional governance. In the afternoon we headed over to our partners @momentdiscovery to explore dot-box technology with an excerpt of Phantom Limbs by Kristi Hanson. @theatrealberta@azimuth_theatre

Beautiful first day at Postmarginal Edmonton: Imagining Inclusive Performing Arts: A morning of laughter, tears, discovery and exchange led by Josh Languedoc. With Soni Dasmohapatra and Lucy LG we entered into the complexity of the conversation with Somatics and Conflict Resolution. Dr. Dwayne Donald took us on a relational river walk to understand the history of First Nations on the land we are meeting.

We have drunk, watched, and talked this week with so many great audiences, a special shout out to our talk back last night hosted by @valdbah . The team is still a little drunk and very full from wine and halva ;) but mostly from magic of the show.
If you haven’t yet caught a performance, get a ticket by following the link in our bio
Meet Esi. Virgo Sun, Virgo Moon (yikes), Leo Rising.
Secret power: “The more i think about this, the longer list i make of stuff that i’m dissatisfied with myself for (see Virgo placements above for explanation)”
Fictional sidekick: Bow from Sheera (and yeah it’s a typical “do I want to be his friend or do I want to be raised by his two sweet librarian dads?” type situation)

Come see Esi perform in “Wine & Halva”, which runs May 2-12 at Espace La Risée.
Among other things, “Wine & Halva” is a semi-autobiographical play about travel, institutional racism, as well as the limits and possibilities of friendship.
