“I am dedicated to exploring “what’s next” in ballet specifically, and in concert dance more broadly. Over the day of the Re:generate workshop, I will begin with a “Ballet and Beats” class that uses the structure of a ballet class as a jumping point for cultivating technique, groove, and pleasure. Next, I will teach a modern ballet solo phrase, then use this phrase as a foundation for dancers to create variations on a theme- solos, duets, and group material that integrates each dancer’s unique curiosities and creative expression with a collective exploration and spirit of play. The day will culminate with a cool down session, giving dancers a chance to exhale after the rigorous day and leave the space feeling refreshed and reinvigorated.”
Robin Dekkers is the Artistic Director of Berkeley Ballet and founder of Post:ballet, where they served as Artistic Director from 2009-2025. Robin infuses their passion for collaboration into training and performance opportunities for dancers of all ages, facilitating co-productions with organizations including Kronos Quartet, San Francisco Girls Chorus, Berkeley Symphony, Berkeley Art Museum (BAMPFA), and Berkeley Public Library. Named “25 To Watch” by DANCE Magazine, Robin has created dozens of works for the stage and screen. They’ve created original works for Atlanta Ballet, Grand Rapids Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Smuin Ballet, and Diablo Ballet, and their work has been featured at Jacob’s Pillow, SF International Arts Festival, SF Dance Film Festival, 92nd Street Y (NYC), Stanford Live, Dance on Camera (NYC), Film at Lincoln Center, and SF Frameline Film Festival.

“This workshop will provide an approachable method to integrate breaking techniques into your contemporary dance practice. Participants will learn floor work built from the movement principles of Breaking. Complex movements will be scaled down to their simplest forms in order to teach even the most inexperienced of movers how to safely progress into larger and more daring movements.”
Babatunji Johnson was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii. Though never formally trained as a child, Babatunji was always moving his body to the beat. At the age of 15, he discovered the art of hip hop. Following over a decade of self-taught street performance, he has developed a unique approach to various styles of hip hop such as breaking, popping, and krump. While cultivating his own movement language, Babatunji simultaneously trained in ballet, modern, and contemporary. Babatunji has performed with LINES Ballet, Post:ballet, SFDanceworks, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Misty Copeland. In 2015 Babatunji was given a Princess Grace Award, as well as a Chris Hellman Award for his outstanding achievements and promise in the world of dance, and in 2024 he was awarded the Gerbode Dance Award.
He is immensely grateful to his mom for providing him with every opportunity and the guidance of her wisdom along the way.

“I am committed to exploring how the physicality of dance can be matched on emotional and intellectual levels to create work that is impactful to society. A cornerstone of my process is the prioritization of narrative and the inclusion of multidisciplinary techniques—including film, text, and sound—within both the movement-generation process and the final piece. During this workshop, we will explore and develop material for a new work entitled Desire Radio.”

“My choreographic process is deeply rooted in curiosity, spiritual exploration, and a fascination with the full potential of the human body. I often draw inspiration from personal experiences and philosophical texts, engaging with themes like transformation, the natural world, and instinct as a guiding force. “My creative practice centers on awakening the body’s innate capacity for storytelling through movement.
