Huge track! This is such a fun groove to play and such a timeless classic. Little Michael Jackson would’ve been 11 when this came out which is mind boggling to think he could sing like that at such a young g age. Could be a bit deeper in the pocket on this but I took a bit of a break from bass to focus on audio work so it feels good to be playing a bit more again.

@korgofficial and @genelec_oy , please make my cat, Data, a sponsored artist and send him free products. He’s deaf but he likes how the gear looks.

Fun one by @toroymoi ! Practicing getting this sixteenth notes as even as possible and trying to make sure that every not is placed just where it needs to be. Tricky!

Pick bass! Getting back to my guitar roots a bit, I suppose.
This is Another Lover by @littledragonflicks . I think this is seriously one of the most beautiful songs of all time. I love how all of these rhythms just slot together so nicely almost like clockwork. (There’s another version of this called The Other Lover with @moses that’s a whole different kind of gorgeous). #bass #vintagebass #transisbeautiful #littledragon
Another Covid day bass line! This is 777 by @brunomars and @anderson._paak
I love lines like this that are just a simple riff that rely entirely on being deep in the pocket. Trying to think of the bass more like a drum in some ways (maybe more like half way between drums and guitar?). #bass #vintagebass #funk #transisbeautiful #transmusician #transwoman #goopyeye
Home with Covid and playing some of my favourite classics in my pyjamas. I was watching the @planetsdigable KEXP live video the other day and wanted to learn this one.
I’m not really playing much guitar these days and bass has been a nice way to approach music making again in a way that feels disconnected enough from the stress of music school. It’s kind of fun relearning a lot of technique and focusing more on rhythm and groove than trying to cram as many notes as possible into bebop lines.
Four years on this good shit today. Gender affirming healthcare saved my life and I’m eternally grateful to be able to access it. Lots of people in lots of places (not so far away) aren’t so lucky and we all need to be fighting for them every day. Trans love and trans power, always.
A few funny notes here and there but I’m very much over technical perfection and much more interested in enjoying musical moments and happy accidents. As long as I can have fun playing guitar again I’m happy.
