Some friendships (and popcorn flavors) are born in the most unexpected places.
This one started at an art talk in the Philippines when I was studying abroad. Now my friend is graduating with her MFA in New York and I couldn’t be more proud of her and excited for @popsarappopcorn to be part of her cohort’s last art show in Brooklyn before graduation! 🎨🎓🇵🇭
Her thesis explored the defiant nature of the banana plant, so we knew exactly what this custom order called for: a special batch of banana caramel popcorn, inspired by Turon, made with caramelized saba banana chips from the Philippines and caramel made from scratch. 🍃🍌🍮
Stepping outside my comfort zone brought me this friendship. Stepping outside it again brought me this business. Some risks are absolutely worth taking.🍿

The popcorn was just the beginning to this delicious debut. Friends (old + new), family, and neighbors we haven’t seen in either hours, months, and even years showed up to Ubeland and surprised us in the best way. 🥹
When I decided to #choosedelicious and build @popsarappopcorn , I wasn’t just talking about popcorn made with the best ingredients. I meant choosing the most delicious moments in life… the kind that feel too good to be real while they’re happening. Yesterday was that kind of day.
